What's your favorite hog rifle?

Nice bubba job on the Norinco PAPACHUCK. I think I will go ahead and get that trigger job done on mine and start using it. I am stubborn however and am going to buy another boom stick.

My favorite hog gun is my cheap old CVA Staghorn muzzleloader. It has killed over 60 hogs. All but a very few were bang flops.

If I were hunting hogs in heavy timber where the range is short, I'd carry either my Winchester Model 94 in 30/30 and 170 grn rounds or my Lee-Enfield #5 Mk I "Jungle Carbine" and 180 grn rounds. In more open cover, I'd use either my 270 or 7mm Mauser deer rifles.

I'm no hunter, but just a naive question here about hunting.

If you manage to hit the pig in the right area of its abdomen/shoulder from about 100 yards, does it really matter whether you have a standard "deer rifle", an AK/SKS, or a Ruger mini etc?

Or even with my store-bought M-1 Carbine (built by Kahr)...when it one day gets back from the factory for repairs (serious malfunction after three months of shooting)?

A buddy at work told me that his brother sneaked up on a wild pig in Texas and killed it with a pistol/revolver. This might be a bit ironic. The buddy is on the Navy Marksmanship Team and they use the M-1 Garand.

Ignition Override, lets see...A friend of mine who was in STA/Scout Sniper Plt once said that shot placement is everything! True, as is the case when you are in the bush and a giant hog comes up on you and you have little time to react but with a .45-70 one hit will definately put the odds in your favor(when it comes to who is gonna go home...you or the hog)! More punch for the dollar! IMO!

Grunt Out!
