Just thought I would start a thread similar to one on TFL.....one that ISN'T HD/SD related.......looking for those who shoot shotguns at screaming clays in sporting, FITASC, skeet and even trap....

Personally, my budget says Browning and Beretta, but I am in love with Perazzi, Kolar, Kreighoff, and FAMARS.....

Anyone else here who prefers wood and substance to plastic and tacticool????

Beretta A391 Xtrema2. It's a pleasure to shoot, lots of chokes, 24" barrel, and quite accurate. I have an 18.5" 870 for defense but the Beretta is my choice for pleasure shooting and hunting.

I shoot at least 100 clays a week with either my 870, my Benelli M2 or my Mossberg.

I think th 870 is my favourite

I agree with throdgrain.

I shoot between 4 and 8 rounds of skeet a week. Out of my guns, I have the most fun with my 20ga wingmaster. I load it down with 3/4 oz of 8.5s around 1200 fps. Bought it last winter and just passed 2500 rounds through it.

Agree 100% on the Broadway. Bought mine in 1981 and 10's of thousands of clays can't be wrong.

K-80 fan here. I also like the Citori.

I've tried an ASE 90 and an MX6, and appreciated them, but I like the taller receiver of the Browning and the way the Krieghoff swings for skeet.

Old Remington 3200 Trap, with blond stock.I have a BT99 too, but I can shoot the 3200 trap "old blondie" quite well in Clays and other sports.
I have a Skeet .410/28ga. 2 barrel set 73 Citori that I use for skeet the last decade, eschewing the 12ga skeet anymore.

Glad to see some clay target shooters!.....My go to is a GTI in12, but I am having lots of fun with an 1100 in 28..........awesome on 5-stand and sporting clays...............

Winchester SX3. Bought it for birds because its light to carry but its never been used in the field. Lots of use on clays though. I still drag the benelli through the hunts, at least I dont have to worry about damaging the wood lol.

Beretta A390, 30" ported barrel (save it, I bought it used for a great price and that's what it had).

I obviously travel with a less well healed crowd than some of you guys. This is about as fancy a shotgun as I have had the good fortune to handle. Fortunately, it is mine.

I shoot about 100 to 150 rounds a week with it. Skeet and Sporting Clays. I would love to get my hands on one of them K, P, B or even S or Z guns. I just don't know anybody that has one. All the folks I shoot with use Beretta auto loaders or pump guns.

We're just having fun and trying to win bragging rights for the day.

This is a pretty common perception. Yes, we own two very nice shotguns but well-heeled, we're not. Just working folks like so many other competitive shooters we know. We just spent the money on good used target guns as our toys of choice after the kids were grown. No boats, no motorcycles, no ATVs, no home theater, no RV or camper. Our fun is shooting, canoeing and tent camping, and doting on grandkids for the most part.

Additionally, as any registered shooter will attest, the shotgun is not the big investment - traveling to shoots, entry fees, practice, and reloading supplies add up to more than the guns are worth pretty quick.

Not trying to pick on anyone in particulars comment, just had to clarify a little. Not every Perazzi and Krieghoff is owned by rich folk.

PS, Rembrandt, that is gorgeous!

I enjoy fourtens. The little pipes are fun.

My favorite is Browning Citori XS Skeet .410, 30 inch barrels.

Good point, Scoupe. We all pays our money and takes our choice. I also have nagging pistol and rifle monkeys on my back. Were I to eliminate those (and the associated ammo, especially pistol), I would be able to afford one of those elegant shotguns.

For now, I guess I will just have to struggle along with the Beretta A390.

First place goes to my Perazzi MX2000s. It has 31.5" barrels and moves like a Ferrari. Second place goes to my Krieghoff K80. It has 32" barrels and moves like a Lexus sedan. Third place goes to my Beretta AL 391 Technys Gold. It has a 30" barrel and handles like a Toyota Camry. I am very blessed shotgun wise.

To One Ounce Load's question, my Perazzi is not muzzle heavy, but I got the medium weight barrels - I believe they are 1.56kg.

Moo2- what's the difference between the MX8 and the MX2000? When I looked at perazzi's site, they appear identical - or did I just brain fart something?
