First ever was of course a red rider at age 7. First I purchased myself was a pistol grip 500(still impractical) second was a maadi MAC 90 during the awb. Since then I've moved on to firearms that serve a purpose. Be it hunting or self defense.
When, about 6 years ago, age 45 a .380 Bersa, a CZ75B, and a Makarov that year.
My first 5 rifles were inherited that year, but it was the next year before I found a good deal on my AutoOrdinance M1A1 and it came in with the prettiest wood on the stock! And a Marlin lever action .375.
I was 13 when I proudly took posession of an H&R Topper 20 ga. Technically I didn't "buy" it as it was my stepdad's brother that took me to Montgomery Wards and filled out the paperwork. The cash that paid for it however and pride of ownership were purley mine. Like a fool I sold it when I was trying to scrape together funds prior to getting married. "I've outgrown it anyways" was my attitude then. Now, I place a little higher premium on sentimental value and wish I still had it. After all, you only get one "first" gun.
in 1964, i had cut hay for some pocket money and i spent 40 bucks of it and an old chain saw in exchange for a Winchester model 52 Sporter from a neighboring farmer. Day before yesterday i used it to dispatch a ground hog that has been pillaging my garden. Probably was the best gun deal i ever made. Over the years, like most, ive gone thru good times and bad, but i never let go of this gun. Next year my grandson turn 16...its his turn.
My father gave me a Marlin Model 60 when I was 8, first rifle I actually purchased on my own was a Springfield M1A when I was 14. Worked a long summer job shoveling manure, and will never get rid of it. Near and dear to my heart.
I was 5 when I got my first BB gun and then had a few guns which were all gifts before I bought one with money I earned at a real job.
Where we were it was tough for a young teenager to find a job that would pay enough to be able to save up enough for something like a gun.
I had also just gotten my drivers license and about that time bought a new car for the princely sum of $100.
To replace my first one, a Chevy that set me back 40 bucks
Spring of 1973. Still in high school. Working the floor at a small auction in central Oregon. An 03-A3 and a 98 Mauser come up for bid. Look like WW1 bring-home guns. Nice shape.
Nobody bids - except for me.
I take 'em for $12.50 each.
I only had them for a couple of months. They were stolen from my camp trailer while we were broke down in the mountains of southern Oregon.
I had other guns before that, but I didn't buy them myself.
First gun that was mine, my dad purchased for my 12th birthday (22 SS)
First gun I purchased on my own, with my own money? My Rem 700 rifle when I was 16 (1963).
First pistol that was my own, a 1926 Colt Officers Model 38, in 1967, a going to war gift from my FIL to be as I was on orders to go to SE Asia. (we didn't get married until I got back from Vietnam.)
I was 20 (2005) when I bought my first gun with my own money. I had just moved out on my own and was wanting a shotgun. I bought a Remington 870 Express Super Mag. I bought my first handgun a few months later when I turned 21.
The 870 wasn't my first gun but it was the first gun I bought. I had a single-shot .22 and a single shot 20-gauge when I was a kid.
1965 14yrs old, bought my first rifle. P17 30-06 from my dad, he had bought it from a guy he worked with at John Deer Planter works. Paid $40.00 for it. I had to bale alot of hay that year at a $1.50 a hay rack load to repay him. Sure wish I still had that rifle now, as well many others I worked hard for. Thats life
52 years old , two years ago , a 9mm H&K pistol. Growing up, I , nor anyone in my family were alowed to have a gun. I remember when I asked the answer went like this, "If you ever have to go to war, you'll have all the guns you can stand then "
