When did you buy your kid their first gun?

My boys, ages 8 & 11 both got bb guns at age 6..... but if the wife doesn't see this the Hamilton rifle in my youngests rifle, got it when he was 4, my oldest doesn't care if a gun is his or mine, if he likes it he shoots it & he shoots everything up to the Remington 721 in 300 H&H lol.

Because he was born.

He'll get his first lesson with a .22 in the next 30 days.

I bought his first .22 five years ago. He's about 6 1/2 and shot a 95 out of 100 on a 25-yard target last week with a BB gun.

I am looking forward to it more than he is.

Kid will be better than his daddy ever was.

I never did the BB gun thing

with my daughter. I started her on a 22 at the age of five. I bought her first 22 shortly thereafter. She got a couple more 22s between the ages of 5 and 9 and then we started Cowboy action shooting. The first time that she fired a handgun it was one of my Ruger Vaqueros in 45 Colt. She did very well. Within the next 2 weeks I had bought her a pair of the Ruger Vqueritos in 32 H&R mag. About the same time I bought her Rossi 92 in 357. Her first dedicated shotgun was and still is a Norinco 97 which has been Slicked up for her. The Rifle has been replaced by a Marlin 94 and she still shoots the 32s. She is 16 now.:D

Interesting side note....when ever the boys were around firearms, their maturity level seemed to go up a couple of notches.
We had the same experience.

I know you like your dogs but they are not kids!
Mine are, and they act just like them. Forever 3 year olds. They are upstairs right now fighting over each others bones. They each have one, but they want the others. :)
