If you try and rob a gun store, it would be reasonable to assume that the employees (and one customer) therein MIGHT take objection to it-

TWO INJURED IN GUN STORE SHOOTOUT IN EL CERRITO
EL CERRITO (BCN)
Two people were shot this afternoon during a shootout in an El Cerrito gun store that resulted from a possible robbery.

El Cerrito Police Cmdr. Daniel Hurley said a man who entered the Old West Gun Room at 3509 Carlson Blvd. around 3:20 p.m. this afternoon made the storeowner uncomfortable.

The owner told police he was suspicious the man was not a legitimate customer and asked him to leave.

Using a buzz-in door system, the storeowner unlocked the front door and as the suspect walked toward the door, two other men entered the store.

The second suspect then raised a shotgun and pointed it at the storeowner who drew his handgun and opened fire. Simultaneously, another customer also opened fire, Hurley said.

The first suspect was shot in the left ankle and a pedestrian walking across the street from the store was also shot.

The pedestrian ran to a nearby shoe store and called police, who received several emergency calls of a robbery and shooting at the gun store.

Police arrived after witnesses saw the two uninjured suspects run away. Crime dogs were used to try and track the men, who are still at large, according to Hurley.

Because the suspect raised the shotgun toward the storeowner, Hurley said it's implied the trio was attempting to rob the store.

The gunshots wounds are not serious and both the pedestrian, identified only as a Richmond resident in his mid-20s, and the suspect have been taken to a local hospital where they will be treated and released.

A preliminary investigation shows at least four shots were fired, three through the front door and one at the injured suspect.

Police officers continue investigating at the crime scene.

Trying to rob a gun store does seem like a rather stupid thing to do. I was talking to a local shop owner wnd he pointed out that he had two of the three things criminals want most...money and guns...and thats why he was always armed. Makes sense to me...also makes me wonder why anyone would try to rob a gun shop. Of course, a pharmacists friend claims the same thing...two of three...money and drugs. Thats why he is armed all the time as well! :D

It's a shame an innocent bystander was hurt :-/

Let us all remember, if you ever want a gun store owner to clear a squid load from your shotgun, don't point it at him. :uhoh:

A gun store near me was robbed. This man deals mainly in hand-built muzzle loaders. He did not have a loaded gun on him. No one was hurt. Now he keeps a revolver. I too thought that robbing a gun store would be a bad idea.

I was in the Old West Gun Room a few months back during a partial black out. The manager was very wary and I knew he was concerned because of the power ottage even though it was daylight. I found a pocket holster for my carry gun and it was only 5 bucks in the used leather item box.

Let's remember that the average criminal's IQ is well below average. Some how this does not surprise me. Unfortunate that the owner wasn't a better shot.:D

...and the suspect have been taken to a local hospital where they will be treated and released

Huh? The suspect will be released?

I purchased a magazine for my 10/22 years back from them (25 rnd). Everyone I talked to a the store was nice and helpful. Sorry to here about the pedestrian (they'll probably sue the store, it is in the PRK!. :(
