I went into my dealer today. I was going to order a SP-101 in stainless, 3" and 9MM. No go. I looked at him blankly. I waited too long? Is Plan B shopping around for a used one?

I know its been a couple of years at least.. They pop up on gunbroker but they want a preiumim $$ for it ..

If you find two, give me a shout and I'll buy the other one. Been looking for a few years now. A speed six in 9mm is the second choice.

Recently I noticed that Lipsey's website still had the SP101 9mm listed but e-mailin them revealed that it was simply a matter of the website not being updated in apparently quite a while. I was hoping to get lucky but no go. I would really like one in 3 inch.

Unfortunately the Taurus is not certified for California. MAy be in th efuture though.

Now that Taurus is in the ammo business too, maybe they'll reintroduce a rimmed 9mm cartridge and we'll have the most efficient snubnose revolver cartridge available.:)

personally i would hate that. part of what makes 9mm so efficient is how little cash and time i have to spend in finding good ammo, a new rimmed version wouldn't have those features. it would be a move akin to Glock making the .45GAP because they were too stubborn to realize .45ACP guns are much more comfortable in single stack (wouldn't you much rather have a comfortable .45ACP 8-round glock?). and if Taurus made a rimmed 9mm it would only be out of stubborness to make some good moonclips that work. but i wouldn't put it past them, their new jersey gun proves they have some very out of touch management. maybe if Bob Morrison shows up on Tom Gresham's Gun Talk again we can slap him arround enough to make his see the light on this moonclip problem too.

i thought it would be a nice solution to poor performance/non-expansion of .38 special in snubs.
The solution is Speer's new 135gr .38 load with huge HP cavity.
;)

"Why do you think a 9mm out of a snub will expand any better than 38 special?"

Because the 9mm out of a two or three inch revolver is moving about 200 to 300 FPS faster
