When I became a [legal adult] I put away childish things...

I actually finally managed to buy a Marlin Model 39 (the 1897T version with straight stock, square lever, and octogan barrel) a couple years ago.

It's my favorite plinking and "pick up and go for a walk in the woods" gun.

You're never too old to have a happy childhood :p :D

(now I just need a Marlin 1894 in .45 or .357, or maybe one of each ;) )

I guess "All things H&K" would be my answer.

I had to actually own many of them first, though...

My Mini-14 did not come with the never empty magazine, and I never could hit anything shooting from the hip either.;)

I still want the special RV from Damnation Alley.

In my youth I wanted a Walther P-38, PPk and a Hi-Standard 2 3/4" 9 shot .22 Revolver.

I had a PPK/s and didn't like it. I never got a Hi-Standard but I have a Ruger SP101 in .22LR.

I'm seriously saving for a P-1 hopefully before the price goes much higher. Sigh.

Who likes the grip on the Walther P22, but not the one on the 99 Sigh.

When I was young, I dreamed of a double-barrel .577 Nitro Express and/or a .416 Rigby. Fortunately, I didn't get either, and I can still use both arms.

1911. I don't play with it anymore. It was cool because there are lots of parts & accessories. It even has history attach to it. Just couldn't get the damn thing work right. You would think after almost a century, these people would get it right. Forget it! Let the kiddies thinker with it while I use a gun that actually works, reliably I might add! :neener:

In my youth I wanted Christy Brin..... oh wrong list.....
Well..... Tech 9 :barf:, Mac 10/11 (I shot a real FA with suppressor at a friend's gunshop, very quiet and impressive), Automag (even found out how to make cases for it to reload for it), and derringers. I still want a DE in .50 AE.

My daydreams were full of Lugers. And Beretta Jetfires.
What I MOST wanted, however, was a supermachine pistol like the ones Doc Savage and his crew(Monk, Ham, Renny, etc.) had. In the books they were described as having a curly magazine shaped like a ram's horn and sounded like a bullfiddle when fired, often with nonlethal ammunition called mercy bullets that barely broke the skin and delivered a tranquilizer.
I don't know exactly what they would have looked like, but when I was 12 I wanted one BAD.

AMT Automag in 22 magnum. Wouldn't buy one now.

That was almost my very first handgun purchase (back in '89). The salesman actually talked me out of it and recommended a Ruger .22. At the time I was so disappointed, I left empty handed.

To bad I never had the chance to thank the guy. :D

Chipperman...

I have an AMT Longslide in 45ACP. It needs work. It will not chamber the last round-- it just kind of halfway chambers it and I have to finish the job myself. It also won't lock the slide back on the last shot. Any ideas as to why?

I was always a big James Bond fan as a kid, so naturally the PPK. I bought a Bersa .380 as my first auto, I've been generally happy with it, except for the jamming problem :( It may have been me limp-wristing it, I've since graduated to .45ACP both in steel and plastic, so I should try out the Bersa again.

Also, .44 Magnum. Not because of Dirty Harry, but just because it's big and cool. .357 is powerful enough for recoil enjoyment, and practical to feed for target. I don't think I'll ever get a .44 unless it's for handgun hunting.

I always wanted the double-barrel shotgun from Doom II :D

I totally agree!

When I was a kid, the only gun I ever really lusted after was my Dad's Winchester .22 bolt action. Since it was his first gun, I knew he'd never part with it. (I knew that because he had said, "I'll never part with this gun.")

7 years ago, totally to my surprise, he gave it to me for Christmas. I still love the gun for it's sentimental value, but it just doesn't make it to the range very often.

Mauser Hsc, Colt Detective Spec, 1911, Arty model Luger
Don't want a Hsc, have S&W instead of Colt , Got a Sistema 1911, would take a 6" P-08 or a Arty model....
Wanted a Marlin 39M finally got one this past year.

Wanted an AR/M16, now I want an underfolder AK instead....

I wanted a PPK, just like James Bond in the novels and movies, and The Equalizer on TV. I wanted a 1911, just like Magnum. And, I wanted both the Smith 4506 like Crockett and the Smith 49 like Tubbs. And the Colt SAA like the Duke. And, the Smith 29 like Dirty Harry. And a Beretta 92 like Bruce Willis used in the good Die Hard movies.

So, the PPK I tried tore up my hand, so I passed on buying it. The 1911 is still on the desired list. The 4506 was just too big, but I did get a Smith 649, which is close enough for me to be like Tubbs. The Colt SAA is an expensive dream. And the .44 Mag is just not practical for my life. And I just got a Beretta 92 from my brother, whose new wife made him get rid of his guns. :barf:

Heh. I just make sure that I keep an eye out for good deals on my childish wants. Then I buy them, shoot them for a little bit and sell them with enough profit to pay for the ammo I used.

So far I've burned through these wants:
Desert Eagle
"match" AR-15 (Which are only super-accurate for the first couple shots until they get hot)
Shotgun Pistol (Thunder 5)
Mini 9mm (CZ Rami, too small for my hand)
Plastic plinker pistol (P22, too small for my hand)

Am currently burning though these:
10mm Longslide (AMT Javelina)
.45 Super Longslide (Springfield V-16)
AK-47 (Saiga)
.22 derringer (NAA Mini-revolver)

seeing as that i am only 18 and still thinking like a kid there are many guns that i want from a .45 GI to a ruger 10/22, ruger single six, wichester 94 in 30-30 (although i have a marlin 336) and of course i would like to have a savage 99 in 30-30, and the gun i drool over every time i think is a marlin bolt action .223 i know they exist but have not seen but one in my life and never heard any one speak of them

I saw a SIG P226 on a magazine cover back when they first came out and had to have one. Of course, I was eight at the time and had to wait. It doesn't have the same appeal now that it once did, but I may have to get one just to see if my adult-self likes it as much as my kid-self thought I would.

Of course, when it comes to guns I think what I really want is "one of each, please". At least one.

A 226 is fun and it's not. It's "too finished". It's kind of like a Glock 9mm in that way. There's no surprises, no variation, just smooth and simple every shot, with low recoil. I think it's a fantastic gun, but there are others which are more "fun" to shoot.

SPAS 12
AMT Javelina
Sites Spectre HC
Desert Eagle
HK53 (ok still want one...)
HK91 (ditto...)

In my youth I wanted gee-whiz hi-capacity stuff more than I do now.

After having fired a Styer GB I no longer want one.

I have a better appreciation for pre-WW2 American arms.

I still want a 44 Auto Mag.
I still want a Mauser C-96.

The HK's lost some of their appeal (P9S, Vp70Z) ... though the P7 still has allure.

I now prefer the BAR to the Thompson (wait I was always arguing that).

Bizon over Uzi.

Gyrojets are still useless but still neat.

Now that I have a Luger I understand they are finicky. I'd still get another.

I used to want an AR, but after I got older I clearly say the "bang for the buck" advantage of the AK and the disadvantages of the AR. I bought a Saiga AK, modified it to pistol grip, made it take standard mags, added a POSP scope, and now I am happy as can be.

/Just have to get my 308 Saiga off layaway now.
