When is a "new" Ruger American not a "new" Ruger American

Wow. Their policy really makes me not want to buy another Ruger. It'll be something to consider before I make another purchase.

I emailed Ruger about this topic. "Response:
No, If a customer/owner sends us a firearm for repair, we ship it back to the customer/owner. The only time a customer/owner will not get the firearm back is if the firearm had to be replaced with a new one. than we have to send it the FFL of his choice for a transfer. We thank you for your email. "

So are these guns (Ruger American rifles) junk? Your experience obviously sounds the alarms. I have zero interest in them as they are all plastic stocks with ugly receivers like the Remington 770s.

I always liked the Ruger Mark 77s years ago but I don't own one.

Disappointing on Ruger's behalf to say the least. I'd tell them to refund your money and keep the rifle, then go buy something better. They probably won't accept those terms but would be worth trying.

The Americans are far from junk.
Typically quite accurate, built to sell cheap.

YEP!

My Americans in .308 and .223 are very accurate, lightweight and inexpensive.
I did have some magazine/feed problems with the .223 but they worked themselves out- I think leaving the plastic mags loaded relaxed the lips a little after a few weeks and now they work fine.

I get that. Most of the online reviews actually seem quite favorable, except for this one and a couple others I came across. For a sub $400 new rifle in the usual common chamberings, it might be great for some.

My tastes; however, are different. Different strokes for different folks.
