I'm a bit of a noob in the handgun realm and went to Gander on Saturday to order my first. The lady told me that all her suppliers are out of stock and will be until March or April. Is that accurate? Do I really have to wait until then to get the gun I want?

Not sure where you are but, there are a few shops in East Texas and in the DFW area that carry many different models of the CZ. And have you tried the Gallery of Guns website to see what may be available near you?

I am in Minnesota. I looked a bit online and it seems that Gallery of Guns and some other sites dont show any local stock. Also, I want to go through Gander because I have over $700 in gift cards.

There has been a big run on guns and ammo for about the last month. Some of this is contributed to "election time". The rumor is being passed around that Obama will be starting anti-gun proposals and that has started a panic buying. I have my doubts about the rumors, but there has been a run on guns and ammo in all the stores that I've talked to.

So is it true that I will have to wait until the next manufacturing run concludes and new guns ship from the factory? Will that be late March-early April?

With gift certs. in that amount, I'd buy from them too. Did they say if one of the other stores had it in stock, and could it be shipped to your local store? Otherwise you just may be SOL until it does come into stock for them

I've noticed a lot of stuff out of stock online lately. Took me a bunch of digging to find the 1911 that I wanted to buy, and it was the last one at the place.

I just bought some Ruger stock. Looking at others.

I understand wanting to use the giftcards BUT if they are charging anywhere near $700 for a CZ Phantom that is an EXTREMELY high price even by Gander Mountain typical rip-off standard pricing for firearms. The going rate for the a regular CZ Phantom is $525-$575 range.

Might I suggest you sell/trade the gift cards online or perhaps use them for something "just somewhat overpriced" like ammo instead.

I was at one of my local shops today and the guy there said they could were having difficulty getting almost any of thier popular guns and a lot of ammo.

I had to look a bit to find my last two handgun buys, a Ruger P95 and Phoenix Arms HP22a, finally found them locally after searching the web for the same price that I had found them online. Used the Gun Genie app to find them. While supplies were spotty for the Saiga I bought in 7.62x39 I did manage to get one from Classic Arms for a great price. I attribute the shortages more to tax refund time than election year panic, although I'm sure it's a contributing factor.

Gander's price for the Phantom is $580... not great, but not terrible.

So does anyone know when CZ will be shipping more out?

+1. While looking on Bud's Sunday, 2 models went from "in stock" to "out" within a couple of hours. Found what I wanted at Tombstone Tactical for only $4 more, but it was their last one.

CZ's are hard to come by. None of my LGS have them in stock (not for lack of trying - they just don't get large batches like they do Glocks, XD's, etc.). As a result, CZ's are overpriced in a lot of GS. Sad but true.

Ports,
You're asking questions nobody can answer.
Will you have to wait? Apparently.
How long? Who knows?

Keep looking & keep waiting till you do find what you want.
Denis

thanks all.. guess i'll just check every so often... or get impatient and buy a Sig 226.

The last I saw (friday last week), ganders distributors were out of sp-01s and sp-01 phantoms. But I believe Gander Mountain Gun World in Germantown, WI still has at least one in inventory that you could purchase over the phone. Go back and ask her to check inventory for store 121, they allow you to purchase guns from them over the phone if you are in store at another gander. (Which regular ganders are not supposed to do, so she may not have known it was possible). Good luck, that's a great gun, I've been very happy with it and my other CZ's. The P-226 is a world apart though. :)

I worked there until this last weekend or I would check for you myself!

All the best.

I don't know the answers to your questions. In the last month, I've taken delivery of a KelTec PMR 30, a Mauser Psc, a Sig 225 and a Sig 220. But I haven't looked for a CZ.

Thanks TriTone. I will give them a call today.

Hey Ports.

Don't know which part of MN you abide, but there are several other options besides Gander Mountain. GM is overpriced and I have overheard clerks say the darnedest things. You may find your gift cards are a better value for other gear, and find a better value at Bills, Koscielskis, The Gun Stop, or the Frontiersman.

Fleet Farm in Burnsville was forced to impose a limit on ammo purchases because the Gander Mountain across the highway was sending clerks over there to buy ammo at their low price, just to mark it up and sell it at GM. That is the kind of people who run that place. Also, their new gun range is the most expensive in the state.

We also have gun shows about every month. Despite the commonly held opinion here on THR, I have gotten excellent deals at several of our local gun shows. There is a huge one at the State Fair grounds in the fall. There is a website you can bookmark that has the MN gun show calendar.
