3rd Gen has 8 and 1 Lb containers of Longshot in today for all you pistol shooters out there.

Been looking for 7.62x39 .310 FMJs for more than a month now. I couldn't drop the $500+ on the case of 2800 at Brownells and Wiedner's that popped up recently.

Still seeking Power pistol, it was everywhere....

Russel,

I was able to order some from Cabela's online last month to go along with the 8 lb jug of Unique. I tried ordering (2) 1lb bottles, but was only allowed one. Better than none, I suppose. Their hazmat is only $20, so I don't mind ordering through them, but I do pay sales tax since they have a store fairly close to where I live here in TX.

This post may not belong in this thread, but I'm looking for 300 blackout component bullets, or price/availability and I know at least one very knowledgeable person here loads for that caliber.

I've always been a bolt/lever rifle guy but I am building my first AR pattern rifle. I've not bought the upper yet, but if I can qualify everything, I'd choose the 300 blackout over the 556. Data suggests 308 caliber 125gr bullets as pretty standard but I'm having real trouble finding them. -- and not trouble finding them in stock, but finding a manufacturer who makes them. Ideally I'd like a plinker round I could make up with the component bullet costing $15 per hundred, if that's not unreasonable.

A brass source would be nice too. I'm not afraid to neck up or down, on a hunting round. But I'm not into significantly cutting down brass to make my own, and it appears that is necessary to make 300 Blackout from 556 brass.

Here's a link to a search on MidwayUSA's site, showing 30 caliber 125 grain bullets:

http://www.midwayusa.com/find?usersearchquery=125+grain&itemsperpage=24&newcategorydimensionid=20694

Manufacturers inclide Sierra, Nosler, Hornady, Speer, and Remington - but nowhere near your desired cost, more like double.

Edit: BDS has posted links to vendors offering processed .300 AAC brass - couple of pages back in this thread. Also, there's a huge 52-page thread on the AR15.com reloading forum titled '300 Blackout Master thread', that you should really look at if you're intending to reload this cartridge.

Tom,

I did a similar search of Midway/PVI/Google before I made the post and found the same results you posted.

Forgive if I'm behind the times or cost, but I figure a hunting or accuracy component bullet in 308/150 to cost in the very low $20's per 100. I'm looking for a plinker (FMJ garbage if I can be fair) round at something less than that.

I'd be surprised to find people who load for the Blackout are using high end component bullets that cost in the range of hunting or match bullets in their Blackout's. I simply figure I'm missing something or missing a source.

If I really have to pay over $20 per hundred for component bullets, I just might change my mind.

I will check out the resources you mentioned for me. I thank you for that and I'll get to it.

can you use 110 gr FMJ round nose bullets intended for .30 Carbine?
I tried them, because I had some laying around, but they did not work that well, and really were not much cheaper than some other more suited bullets.

Is it legal for a forum member to buy powder at a local supplier and ship to another member by going to UPS and declaring what it is?

The short answer: NO!

Ummm, why is it "no" if it is declared and the hazmat fee is paid? Powder is shipped all the time. When we order it online, how do you think we get it?

Because you have to be a certified hazardous materials shipper to do this. Hence the "short answer" part. Yes, it would be legal, provided the individual has his hazmat cert., was set up as a hazmat shipper with UPS, paid all the fees, certifications, etc.

But the short answer is.... no.

Just got notification from Natchez Shooters Supply, they have Reloader 15 in 1# bottles for about $20.00 a bottle. Just got 10#.

Too bad because I have a good local supply shop who doesn't do online and I would have been tempted to help a friend in need.
