Academy sports and outdoors just started carrying a few reloading supplies, here in the Houston, Tx area. They had dies and peimers when I went there last weekend.

Does anyone know of a place that has .284 162gr Amax in stock? I ordered some from Powder Valley a few days back as it said they were still in stock and got an unfortunate email shortly there after saying that they had run our before getting to me. I am down to 15 of them left to load.

Just came from a Gun show in Kansas City MO. Was glad to see the most stuff at fair prices I've seen in a while. Lots of powders, I bought some of the New Alliant BE-86, saw IMR 7625, Win Autocomp and others. Lots of BL-C2, h335, lots really at better prices than previous shows. Maybe a break soon, or at least possible to get some anyway.

I've heard 7625 is going away (along with some other SR series powders). Has to do with the consolidation of IMR, Winchester and Hodgdon, I was told. Same reason some IMR powders are now sold under the Hodgdon label.

I picked up a pound of BE-86 at a local vendor recently (Lucky13bullets.com, but they aren't set up to ship powder). I have some test loads but have not had a chance to shoot them yet.

Powders have become more available at the local gun shows. Prices have not come down much, though, at least at the shows. One guy had Titegroup (one I really like) but wanted $38 for it. I laughed and walked away. Most vendors had powder for anywhere between $25 to $30 per pound.

I've ended up with at least a dozen different pistol powders because of this - I take what I can get, will figure out what works well for me. It didn't help I was just getting into reloading when all the madness started.

scored HP-38 & BULLSEYE & TIGHTGROUP!!

LGS SPORTSMAN'S LOFT Tactical & Hunting gear in Minot, ND (100 miles one way for me) got in a truck-load of powder!:what:
Sorry, they don't ship.
A fellow reloader there called me when LGS opened and I was on my way 10 min later!
2lb limit PER POWDER TYPE, I got BULLSEYE, HP-38 & TIGHTGROUP ($26.99/lb + tax all 3 powders) The rest was mostly shotgun powders some of which you could use for pistols, but I had run out of reload mad money anyway.:fire:
These will keep me shooting my pistols till powder shortage eases up more.:D
I hope everyone is seeing powder show up in LGS's near you!

I had heard HP38 was going away.

I nabbed a 4lb jug of Titegroup this past week, at an LGS that doesn't normally stock powder. Almost missed it because I didn't know to look for it. They also had Autocomp in 1lb bottles.

I think these are signs the powder drought is almost over.

First, primers were hard to find. When the primers became plentiful again, the powder drys up. If there is a progression to this, I guess bullets will be hard to find soon. LOL.

Actually, we have been through several cycles of various component shortages since 2008 and we certainly have gone through the "projectile drought".

Bullets and primers have returned and like rifle powders, pistol powders are slowly coming back.

I had not heard this before. Don't know why Olin/Winchester and Hodgdon would discontinue W231/HP-38, probably the most popular pistol powder on the market.

Anyone else heard of this?

W231 is NOT going away, only HP38. I heard they are getting rid of some of the duplicates since Winchester, Hodgdon and IMR have merged. Also, some of the IMR powders are now under the Hodgdon label, like 700x.
