I decided to try placing a backorder with Midsouth on Monday of this week for 8 lb. of IMR 7625 and HP38. This evening (Friday) I received a shipment notice for the 7625.

I won't hold my breath waiting on the HP38.

If you receive notice that part of a backorder is being shipped, don't assume that the remaining item(s) will remain on backorders. I have backorders in with five different companies and more than one told me that in the event of a partial shipment, the remainder of the items are cancelled. The only way to avoid this is to place a separate backorder for each item in which case you will incur separate Hazmat fees, but the chances of more than one item coming in at the same time and can be shipped together are pretty remote right now anyway. One company also told me that they wouldn't fill a backorder at all until all items were in stock. Unfortunately, I can't remember which companies told me what information, so check with them and don't assume anything. Also, nobody that I'm aware of charges your credit card before items are shipped but some do put a hold on debit card funds for a few days, after which time it falls off and some will put a pending charge on your credit card which will also fall off after a few days of it not being finalized.

I agree, tcoz. Before I placed the order, I contacted Midsouth and was told they don't charge until the order is filled. They also assured me the order was cancelable as long as it wasn't filled. I also placed a separate order for each powder.
