I have a few nice carry guns but nothing that is great for pocket carry. After doing my research I decided that a Ruger LCP custom might be a good idea. You know, the one with the red trigger.
I went to my LGS and he told me that he had ordered 15 but then the order was canceled. I went to the next city with a larger gun shop. Same story. They don't have any and can't get them. Guy called and told me nobody has them.
So what is up? Are they so popular that Ruger can't keep up with demand? Has there been problems and they are on recall? Are they just a myth and don't really exist? If you have any information I would appreciate you chiming in. Thanks.

Ruger dropped the price of them(and the other models of LCP) drastically several weeks ago, and I think everyone just jumped on the deals. I got my LCP Custom in early December through Davidson's for $199 which with fees and taxes came out to about $230 for me. I haven't seen them in stock at Davidson's since then.

There is some conjecture that LCP's disappeared from the supply pipelines as Ruger is planning to introduce an updated model at the SHOT show in a couple of weeks and did not want distributors stuck with old stock. No idea if it's true, but would make sense.

Where are you guys seeing the $199 LCPs?

I might pick one up for a pocket gun.

Palmetto State Armory had them for $199 also but I think they are sold out. That's a really good price, even if it does become the "old" model. I keep one in my pocket when I am at home. I figure it's better than yelling loudly at a potential threat until I get to my HD gun.

RTK and Galloway Precision sell the aftermarket trigger, which looks to be what an LCP Custom is. An LCP that has had the RTK trigger put in it.

Custom has the different trigger, taller sights, and a stainless steel guide rod.

It's not just the Custom that's sold out everywhere though. It's all of the LCP's.

Somebody forget to tell my LGS. They still have 2 in stock from $340-$369. :D

Sold my Custom when I heard the front sight is a proprietary setting and isn't great at its job of staying put.

I hope an LCPS is coming...

LCP's have been a bit scarce in my area as well. I had assumed it was the lowered price, but a new version from Ruger would be interesting.

I have the same issue. when the price dropped I decided I would get 1 for my dad for Christmas and get me and my wife 1 each for valentine's day. I called Kygunco a week or so before Christmas and they had over 300 in stock. so I ordered my dad's and decided to wait until after the holidays to get the other two. big mistake. I looked a week or so ago and they were out. and have been out ever since. I have looked everywhere. the only places with them in stock are the places still asking over $300, and even some of those places show out of stock. a friend of mine has an FFL and I asked him to check with his distributors, he said they are all out of stock.

They are still being discounted at a lot of locations online...

I say an striker fire is coming. I have no idea why we aren't hearing about it though. The PPS M2 is selling out before the Shot show announcement...
