I can't seem to find them in stock anywhere. Even on the web. Anyone know where I could grab some .357 Magnum Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel?

I see it listed at a number of on-line retailers (Midway USA, etc.) but shown as out of stock. I did come across at least one retailer who seems to have it in stock (at least in the individual 20 rnd boxes) so you might try them:

Target Sports USA

I'm fairly certain if you are looking for the bullet to be GD and the other req is to have short-barrel then you may look at Buffalo-Bore

I have had the same problem from time to time, and have substituted Remington 125 grain Golden Saber .357 loads for the Gold Dots. Both are mild mannered .357 loads and work great in short, light-weight guns.

I thought about getting some of that. Then I read the ballistics. Under 1000 FPS. Really, thats what I consider a .38 +P. I was underwhelmed. At the price those little designer 20 round boxes cost, its not for me. I'm sure its a decent round, and, if its what your looking for, Midway is out of stock, but, accepting backorders.

Technical Information:

•Muzzle Velocity: 990 fps

•Muzzle Energy: 294 ft. lbs

Buffalo Bore 125gr Short barrel .357
-----------------------------------------------------------
S&W mod. 340PD 1-7/8 inch barrel - 1,109 fps (341 ft. lbs.)
S&W mod. 66 2-1/2-inch barrels -1,225 fps (416 ft. lbs.)
S&W mod. 65 3-inch barrels - 1,322 fps (485 ft. lbs.)

I tried it, I love it. BB loads are consistent and they use the Speer bullets.

search on ammoengine.com i remember seeing them there. you would be better off with double tap's 125 grain gold dot load. in a short barrel you get about 2-3 hundred fps more than speer's short barrel load. they come out of my 2 inch snubby at about 1100-1200 fps.
