Anyone know where I can find the lever to rack the slide on a Sears rifle Model 29? Its quite old but I would like to keep using it. It just broke off. If not any suggestions?

All the best

Thanks

Thanks Chawbaccer. They shipped the part right away. It was a bit tough to install but I got it in.

I may have screwed up the trigger though. I have never shot this rifle before, but the trigger felt weird. When dry firing, you have to pull the trigger slightly and then pull again to get it to fire. I didnt mess with the trigger at all. Is this normal when dry firing this rifle?

Thanks again.

No, it is not normal for your Sears (High Standard) trigger to work that way.

Sounds like a defugalty with the disconnecter or sear assembly in the trigger group.

BTW: It is not a good idea to dry fire .22 RF's, or any other old gun. Firing pin may crystallize & break, or damage the chamber on some RF's. Use an empty case to cushion the blow.

You may want to check out your disconnector spring, on some guns you can check them by turning the gun upside down and give it a light tap in the trigger area and see if it will fire. Take note of RC's advice about dry fireing a 22. Put a spent case in it before testing.
