I've made a few of my own grips over the years, I'm nearly finished making a pair for a S&W M66 and need the screws for them. I've used salvaged one's in the past, but I don't have any scrap grips laying around I can salvage from this time.

Does anyone know where I can get these, and what they are actually called?

Thanks

Awesome guys, thanks, I wasn't sure by the pics, but I kind of thought they were called escutcheon screws, but I didn't want to order the wrong screws.

I'll just go down the list of places ya all provided, I'm sure someone will have em.

I make my own stock escutcheon's out of brass rod.

Drilled & tapped for hardware store stainless steel slotted screws with the edge of the heads turned down to fit them.

It appears the only way to order parts from Jack First is from their $40 catalog.
Very tricky, eh?

Jack First? Catalog only? No! I've always done it with just a phone call; but, then again, I always know what I want BEFORE I call. So do several other smiths I know. So if this is what they're doing now, it must have started recently. (Like within the past year and a half, or so.) As far as I'm concerned the girls in the front office have always been very helpful.

BTW, this is a really fun project this time around. I used to have a decent band saw and also a router. My youngest son, as usual, got a hold of both and I have since been without them.

So this project, though moving slowly, has really been a lot of fun. I used a hack saw to split the wood, that was quite a challenge, to say the least, but I took it slow, and it went very well. I'm doing all the work with old school hand tools, wood chisels, files, and really the only modern tool I'm using is a dremel. They've already been fitted over the handle, and been flushed to the side plates, so the hard part is over finally. Once I get the halves mated on the hand grip portion of the frame, to which I left a lot of over lap to prevent prematurely taking too much off, I can begin shaping them, which will be even more fun. But at least they are fitted now.

The wood I used is some really old well seasoned walnut. The portion of the stock I used has a nice burl to it, and is really dark in some spots, lighter in others. I have quite a bit more to work with and plan to make a couple more pairs for other pieces I have in need of some spiffing up. One way or another I'm going to figure out how to post pictures. I really need to get with the technology program, there are just so many pictures I would enjoy sharing around here.

I like that Tincanbandit. Even if for no immediate need, I might just order those just to have on hand for future projects.

Again, Thanks guys!
