We've discussed the shootout a few times, and the "44 Minutes" TV is about to air in a half hour on FX, but I wanted to find out once and for all where the weapons used came from. I have heard they were illegally purchased in Mexico as full autos. I've also heard something about the two shooters being arrested previously and their weapons returned (supposedly including the AKs). Obvsiously if they were illegal weapons from Mexico there is no way they would be returned. So what is the truth here? Anyone have a link to a article or police findings report that details where the weapons came from, if they were legally purchased and then converted, etc, or what? California is not now and hasn't ever been a "class 3 state" correct?
Just curious, I suppose it will likely be covered in the movie, but obviously you can't trust what they portray as fact. I'm betting they show these clowns walk into a gunshow and walk out with full autos... I would love to see a police report on where the guns orginated from, and how these guys bought them...
