I live in Arkansas and I was just wondering where people like to buy their guns from and why? Or why not?

Usually from folks trying to sell them ;)

Try Armslist.com and look under AR, here in WA there are usually a fair amount of used guns available. Just like craigslist, but better :D (for obvious reasons).

what part of AR? I used to get mine from John's Guns in Fort Smith, but John has moved and I have lost my favorite gunshop in my area. I knew John for almost 10 years. Been going there since I was 12. If your in the Fort Smith area then Coopers on 271 is a good place, though the owner doesn't like know it alls so don't be one. Other than those two places I get my guns usually from friends and the same gun will make the rounds of all my buddies and will eventually find its way back to me.

There are a couple of gun shops in Central Arkansas (I am in Little Rock) but I am not a huge fan of either. Fort Thompson and John's Guns are both in North Little Rock. Fort Thompson was nothing but new guns last I was there and I got attitude from the employee at John's that turned me off.

There is a Gander Mountain and the Bass Pro is coming next year.

I generally buy used guns so I buy from Gunbroker or the like and use a home based FFL who charges $20 for transfers. Gun shows are frequent with no state laws restricting private transfers.

I live by NLR. I am not a big fan of the box stores. I went to Don's weaponry two or three times. I asked him a question about something the first time I was there and the guy was rude. I don't know why. I did buy a duck call from him though. Bullseye guns seemed to be the same way. Granted I have not been to either of these places in many years, maybe things have changed. fort thompson has nice people but you are right, they always have new stuff. Very little used. I personally buy my guns at a pawn shop in Sherwood. I know I probly pay a little more but, I like the people who work there and they have generous layaway. The one fella that works there or owns it, I'm not sure which? Usually talks to me and we get into long conversations about almost anything. He can get new or he typically has used firearms. I have never heard of John's.

I like arguntrader.com and could not recommend it more. As far as LGS in Central Arkansas, I usually buy from ft. thompsons. Ft. Thompson's is fine but I am looking forward towards Arkansas Armory opening in late summer. I have met with the owner before and seems to be a great guy.

I had it wrong, it was Don's and not John's. Sorry you had pretty much the same experience as I did. The guy convinced me not to come back.

Options in Central Arkansas are very limited. Maybe that's why the gun shows have good attendance.

Had good luck over the years with EZ Pawn and Gun in Clarksville. Jeff seems to really know his stuff and will make you a fair deal. He charges 10% over his cost on both new and used frearms. The place is usually very busy so be prepared to wait a few minutes. Once he gets to you he'll take whatever time's needed to look up or call to get you prices on what you're interested in. You might also try looking at Davidson's gungenie to see what price other shops are willing to sell the firearm you're interested in.

I live in NWA, and sadly, I order a lot of things online.

Ozark Armory and Ozark Sportsman have good selections.

The people in the Ft.Smith area really need to head out and look at Fort Chaffee Outfitters. Its on Terry street out there in the old barracks. I bought a Glock there for $484 and it was a G19 Gen 3 NEW. Alot of his guns are nice deals. It's a tactical store. Alot of weapons, accessories and gear.

Look at there photos of the store here.

Best store in the area.

I really like the guys at Ft Thompson, not so much at Don"s.A friend is getting into the custom rifle business in a big way,and has a ffl and a manufactures license,pm me if you want for his phone. He carries no inventory, but can order what you want for a fair markup. Lightman
PS,Mac's at Stuttgart has a big selection, and lots of used stuff, but somewhat pricey.
