I'm curious what kind of chair everyone uses when they sit down to reload. I'm setting up my reloading station and I'm thinking of getting a small stool with wheels and a height adjustment to get myself right where I want to be.

la-z-boy recliner.

actually, a very generic dining room table type of a chair. but i would like to be able to load in my la-z-boy.

Some of my reloading procedures are done standing up to get a birds eye view. My reloading stool that is use when sitting down at the press is an old retired bar stool. A surviver of a bar fight a long time ago that I reglued back together. The swivel feature comes in handy when changing from one station to another.

A $35 WalMart barstool. If I put one foot on the ground and rest one on my bench's lower shelf it's downright comfy, and easy to stand up from when I need to lean over my work or pound on whatever foolish mistake I've made this time.

A fairly good one....

A high-back leather office chair. But dont get too jealous, it gets sticky in the heat. Still, its nice to be comfortable. My bench wraps around it in a U shape, so I can really enjoy my reloading time, as much as I enjoy the computer at home or sitting at the office. They are all that type. I am a fairly big guy so I dont mess around with stools anymore. :D

My "reloading bench" is also my kitchen table. (I have a VERY "understanding" girlfriend") :)

I use a "cabelas fishing chair" I purchased a few years ago. It's basically an oversized lawn char that is green canvas material, it has a cupholder that clips in to the side of the chair! :neener:

It seats me well below my kitchen table, however I am eye level with my scale and thats the way I like it.

I just picked up a computer chair from IKEA this weekend for $25 and it works great. I like the ones with the telescoping post so you can adjust your height as you see fit.

My chair is just an old dining room type and my bench is pretty high. Like Waffen, I like my scale about eye level - mine is just slightly below eye level however. I've reloaded with friends at their benches and to me, it feels awkward if I'm standing or sitting and I'm too high above the work. I suppose a lot of it is just what I've gotten use to.

I let my vast personal experience be my guide.

I have the most experience with a bar stool :D

Here's the one I use

Cheap, rock solid, it swivels and the padding keeps me comfortable. It's high enough to allow me to check powder charges (visually) in station 2 on the 550B

I ordered it on a Tuesday, it arrived Friday afternoon. It was somewhat of a PITA to assemble. I ended up having to read the directions... then it took all of about two minutes.

I stand...

When I reload, I stand as it allows me to see into each case and verfiy that it has the correct amount of powder (not so in the tall cases). Standing also causes less lower back strain for me.

I'm mostly a stander too. The stool that appears to be used is mostly for just leaning up against.

A drafting chair

I use an adjustable office desk chair that was designed for drafting tables. Its quite a bit taller then a regular desk chair, so I can sit and still look down into the cases.

My posture is terrible when I reload. The bench I have to work with is far too low and forces the user to hunch over in order to use it. When I have some vacation time I am going to try and build something better. Some of the photos I have seen here have given me some good ideas.

On my couch but I have to sit forward or I'm not leveraged properly to get the primers in. Sometimes I stand. But now, after reading this, I might buy a bar stool. Good thread!

Another barstool sitter/leaner depending on the reloading activity.

My reloading location stinks (literally, it's in the garage with the cars, lawnmowers, fertilizer). I have a Workmate to mount my press on and a wrought iron glass top table for my scale and PACT powder dispenser. All of my equipment goes in a rolling tub I got from Sears, and I have to setup/breakdown endlessly.I really get envious when I see some of the setups you guys have, especially since it's getting HOT out there. I do some operations in the den if there's a good movie on- trimming brass, priming, etc. (I have a Forster single stage).

Where I DO have you guys beat, from what I've seen, is a Steelcase office chair, with arms, no less. Upholstered in chocolate fabric, it blends in tastefully with my garage decor (early junk). I can swivel from the Workmate to my scale and back again and can adjust it to my comfort. Maybe one of these days the rest of my situation will catch up!

Standing is the only way to go for me. Sitting down would just make it too difficult to be mobile/flexible enough to reload at a decent rate. Purchase a nice comfy floor mat, raise that table up, and work that press!

I had an old wooden office chair on wheels, with swivel/tilt seat that I liked but my wife hated. I built my bench (which is in a walk-in closet) to fit the old chair. The wooden seat gets just a tad hard after while, so I usually use the foam pad I bought for my tree stand on it. I use a single stage press, so checking powder isn't a problem- just pick up the loading block and adjust the light. I do, however, take my case trimming, primer pocket cleaning, and priming away from the bench frequently- often to the patio this time of year. Maybe someday I'll even take it to my kid's little-league game- ought to start some interesting converstaions!
