Where it find really old-school grips for modern J-Frames?

Does anyone know where to find grips for j-frames that look like the old grips used in these top-break revolvers? Are the frames from one j-frame to another close enough dimensionally that an off-the-shelf grip of this style would work without any hand fitting to the individual gun, since all other grips cover the parts that these would leave exposed?

Picture a S&W 642 or 442 sporting grips like these, which fit into the round notch normally covered by other grips:

Several different grip makers offer they style you are looking for. Collins grips, grips4guns, and Grashorne stag grips come to mind.

If you had one of the very early pre-model 36 Chief Special revolvers what you have in mind would work, but now the handle length has been increased about 1/8". However...

Make stocks for special issue Smith & Wesson's and other handgun companies, and are highly regarded. I suspect they might be able to help you.

But be aware that if you outfit a little J-frame with anything of this sort, and fire anything but the very lightest loads or use a Tyler-T grip adapter, the recoil will take a big chunk of meat out of your 2nd finger.
