So,I'll be moving cross country this summer & I need to transport my meager collection.I don't have enough gun cases for all the long guns & I don't want to transport them in the safe. The handguns I could fudge some safe packaging for but would rather not.

I like things neat.

So,what I'm looking for is a source for factory style shipping boxes that'll accomodate fullsize rifles, shotguns,& EBRs.Also handguns from J frame to X frame.About three dozen of each type.

Any ideas?

Thank you,jeffw.

They only sell in bulk but you could probably sell any left overs online or to a local gun store. Brownells price quite frankly sucks, they want 77.49 for 5. Uline's boxes are the same 200lb tested cardboard.

If you go to this page http://www.uline.com/Class_04.asp?desc=Boxes+Corrugated
and enter the max dimention you need for your largest gun plus the cushioning you'll need. Uline also has a number of cushioning products. http://www.uline.com/Class_05.asp

For Brownells price you can get more boxes than you need AND get a roll of bubble wrap (12inchx300ft), pocket the difference and sell what's left over or use it for something else. Yes I want the 300 foot roll, no I don't want if for packaging but for ... a nephew, yes I want it for a nephew. 300 feet, whole, long, it crackles.

Oh, I missed the handguns above, those are available as well. This page has the search by size for the smaller ones. http://www.uline.com/Group_9.asp?desc=Corrugated+Boxes

There are many more than this.

The tiranglular cardboard tubes from FedEx work pretty well. Wrap the long gun in enough bubble wrap to prevent much movement, and slide it into the "tube".

They have several sizes and lengths available.

Good Luck...

Three dozen of each is "a meager collection"?

I'm feeling more than a little inadequate here...

Ken Grant-Thank you,it never occured to me to check Brownells.

mrmeval-Success!Exactly what I neen.Thank you!

Joe Hatley?-That's not a bad idea too.I've a stash of those already intended for some loose golf clubs.Any extras would likely work well for extra shotgun barrels.Thank you.

orionengnr-:D -Yup,meager.There are more than quite a few members here whose collections number in the hundreds &,IIRC,atleast a couple w/over a thousand firearms in their stash.Imagine the smell of oil & walnut mmmmm.

Thank you all for your input.

I use my factory boxes and wrap them in brown paper, or place them inside of some other cardboard box if need be. UPS also sells boxes and wrap.

"I use my factory boxes"
That I'll be doing too. Most of mine are second hand -no box- purchases though.
Thanks,jeffw.

Go to your local gunstore and ask for a few rifle shipping boxes. At my local shop that I part time in once in a while, we throw out several every day.

I bet your local store'd be glad to have you haul a few off for them.
