I am looking to pick up some sort of AK. 7.62x39, Bayonet Lug, Slant Brake, Fixed or Folding. Looking at a GP WASR 10, but not set on it. Anyone have recomendations on places to look in NOVA or online? (I know about Classic Arms, AIM Surplus, and Military Gun Supply). Looking for any leads and how much I should be looking to spend. Thx.

Though i find they have way too many hoops to jump through, AtlanticFirearms comes highly recommended and has an awesome selection of cool toys. To answer your other question, you should be spending,IMO, just under $400 to just over $600, though depending on which AK variant catches your eye, it could run well into the $1000's !!!!!!!!

I picked up a well used AK imported from Romania (i think) Its not in great shape and its not up to the quality of some of the higher end AK's - I bought the gun locally - most of the other guns in the store weren't overpriced from what i could see - i was able to get the gun, 2 mags (one used - one new polymer) and 80rnds - out the door for under $475 - So is this a good deal or did i get taken? - I bought one of the cheapest ones in the shop - im not sure what the difference was - they all looked the same except for having different stocks, etc - I dont really know anything about the AK but thought it might be a good gun to get into - im also looking for some better models once i get used to using this one - i will be interested to see what others have found online or elsewhere!!

Virginia Arms Company (Rt 28, Manassas) usually has half a dozen AKs for sale. Last time I was there they had Arsenal, Yugo, and WASR models. Also check Guns and Ammo Warehouse which is a mile away on Rt 28.

Classic Arms has some nice Romy G AKs for $399, and they are great people to deal with. You can pay a lot more, but for a solid well built AK at a good price, this is hard to beat.:D

I just went to Guns and Ammo Warehouse in Manassas and they only have AR's , a Sig 556, and a couple used SKS, a G3 clone, and a FAL clone. No AKs. VA Arms has a couple AKs, a couple Galils, 1 G3 clone, an original used HK G3 I think, and a load of ARs. Blue Ridge in Chantilly has a couple AKs in Romania, Yugo, and Chinese models, and they have a HK MP5 for about $4k.

I'm looking as well and have been reading as much as I can. I'm in Fairfax so there isn't a whole lot of selection. Clarks down in Warenton doesn't sell any assault rifles. I'm thinking to buy online but I hear so much complaints about quality for the cheap Romanian guns built by Century Arms and some from Arsenal. Redstick might be a good option for online guns. Google Redstick or Redjacket firearms. I just want to spend like $400 on a good quality AK but this may not be possible. I can't justify spending $700 to $1000 on an AK.

SSG Tactical has the lowest price on assault rifle for NoVA and I have looked all over. I may buy something from them.

Might want to wait for the next Nations Gun Show in Chantilly. Got my Saiga last time I was there, and they had every AK under the sun. Get there on friday though...with cash...as they run out quick.

July 25th is the next one.

I may look at getting a AK from Arizona Response Systems. Seems like they zero in and check everything out on the rifle. For under $600 I like that piece of mind.

I found Gilbrts prices to be way out of whack with everyone else in the area. Over priced.

I can also recommend Virginia Arms. They've treated me well over the past few years, I find little reason to use other local shops. I just wish they still carried reloading supplies.

Gilbert's is outrageously priced. You will get a better deal and better service at Virginia Arms, who, unlike Gilbert's, will order from wholesalers for you.
