Looking for an Ak for the cabinet. I was looking at the wasr 10's and read alot about the poor quality and everyone said to buy a Saiga.

The Wasr was great because it featured all the NJ Compliant features
-No Folding Stock
-Under 15 Rd magazine
-No bayonet lug
-Pinned and welded muzzle brake
-Semi-Auto

But the more and more i watch sons of guns they all use saigas and he fact that theyre made in the same Factory as the real ones is pretty cool. The ones without the pistol grips are $350 but thats what make the rifle for me.

Anyone See these around for a decent price, Nj Compliant with a pistol grip?

FWIW I tried to buy a Saiga 308 over the winter off GunBroker. I asked the local dealer to do the transfer and first guy said no problem so I placed the bid and won the auction. After I won the Auction I called back to advise the local dealer it was coming, I spoke to different salesperson on the second call. Because the NJ gun laws are so convoluted and this dealer had been burned a few times by the state the second guy I spoke with said they would check it out. To make a long story short the salesperson #2 contacted the State AG and the AG said NO go for the Saiga because the receiver was the “same as” or “AK like”, I forget the exact term but it was NO sale for the Saiga 308. As a result of the AG’s decision the local gunshop would now need to remove other Saiga models from their display and my first GB auction went south so I received a negative feedback. I guess the moral of the story is NJ Compliant is always NJ legal. YMMV, Good luck

Arsenal USA makes a NJ/NY legal version of their SGL-21 series. They are a bit pricy, but they are without a doubt one of the best AKs on the market.

I have had two of the Wasr 10s, one in each caliber, for 12 years. I bought them when they were the only game in town back in 99. Both have been 100 percent trouble free and reliable. With 10, or 5 round mags, you learn aimed fire instead of spray and pray. chris3
