Has anybody had any experience, good or bad, with Weber Guns in Temple, Tx. or Elk Castle in Ft. Worth, Tx. Many thanks.

I haven't shopped the Temple place, but have done a LOT of business with Elk Castle over the past 13-14 years. They have changed some in staff and management over those years, but I have never walked out of there feeling like I'd gotten anything but a fair (or better) deal.

I live in Bell county and Webbers are ok they seem to have a Gun shop Attitude. When it comes to gun work by a Gun Smith I cant say any thing bad about them great work and they stand behind what they work on Ive had them work on 2 triggers and they are GREAT.. There is 2 other gun shops LOVE GUNS they have a gun shop attitude but there prices are good another Gun shop is JM FIREARMS Ive never been in there but ive heard some good storys about them. I hope that ive helped.

I live near Stephenville, so I think I'll give Elk Castle a try. I've heard other good recommendations about them. A place called Star Arms in Stephenville also has a 'gun store' attitude, so I know what you mean. Thanks for the help.

Fountain on 6 in Houston maybe not the best price but I purchase a cz-452 lux deluxe from them and I think I got a good deal. Didn't have much ammo in stock; go figure.

Gatesville has a nice gun store also. I was there last year, but don't remember the name. Lots of used guns with decent prices.

Since you live near Stephenville, have you tried Pigeon Road? Prices are competitive, and they will take care of any problems. In the phone book. There is also a guy in Dublin who sells at cost plus 10%, Smith Imaging. In the phone book. He's good. Then there is Tac-Pro up 108 North about 25 mins., just outside of Mingus. Nice people. The range and training there are world class.

I always like to check Ray's Hardware in Dallas whenever I get the itch. I've bought a few guns there before. Prices are competitive - much more so then a lot of the smaller shops in the DFW area. Generally better than Cabelas and Bass Pro too. Academy Sports & Outdoors is fairly competitive too - got my .22s there.

I've had dealings with Weber's but it was many years ago. Can't say anything bad though. They were ok and a salesman helped quite a bit when I went there. I later moved to the Ft. Worth area and there are numerous shops there. Texas is a pretty gun friendly state but there are the occasional butt heads in some places. With so many places though you can always take your business some place else.

I remember a place in Rockett, Texas called the Rockett Pistol Parlor. Saw them at gun shows and they always had good prices. I believe Rockett is south of the DFW area around Waxahachie. (Did I spell that right?)

It's a bit of a drive, but if you are looking for older and military weapons or bulk and/or unusual ammo, you should stop by the Ammo Depot out in Caddo Mills. It's run by a great guy, they have a wide variety of surplus weaponry at good prices, and they have some really weird stuff. Last time I was in there, for example, they had an inert training rifle grenade for the SKS.
