I try to shoot lead-emission-free ammo whenever I can (meaning lead-free primers and TMJ or lead-free bullets). No one seems to have any in stock these days. Hardly surprising, since I'm sure most of the demand is for "conventional" ammo, but still frustrating. Any idea where I can pick some up?
A few years ago I researched this, and decided OSHA guidelines for blood lead level are way too high (40 ug/dL). They may protect you from blatant symptoms of acute lead poisoning, but doctors have since determined that much lower BLLs are still associated with significantly higher risk of many diseases - hypertension, depression, cardiovascular disease, and mental deficits. There is really no "safe" level of lead exposure, and the threshold at which the risk is not worth the effort of reducing exposure is probably somewhere as low as 2-5 ug/dL.
Some people may feel like they have the brain cells to spare - I know I can't afford to be any stupider than I already am.
Any suggestions are appreciated! I am specifically looking for 45 ACP.
