I was recently reading in a hangun magazine about used or refurbished police handguns. How could I find out who to contact to see if they have any old service guns that they may sell? I live in Ohio. I probally would only be using it for home self defense. Has anyone bought old police guns? What did you think about them? How much did you pay? I really want to find a Glock.

There's alot of options available for good used handguns right here on THR. Considering the rugged reliability of the Ruger SP101 revolver, They sell often for $250 or so. CZ semi autos are very reliable and built well. Saw a new one on Auction Arms for $279 +shipping and FFL, the 40P. CZ forum classified can get you some great deals also. If you see someone with alot of posts, and like them, you'll probably be pleased with what you buy from them.

The State used to have auctions (written bids) on DPS guns as well as everything else. Then whats his name came into power and they shut down all the good stuff (oh yes, Clinton I beleive it was). I guess they trade them back in for new, or maybe destroy them.

What do you guys think. Can I go wrong buying something that is used or refurbished? That Summit broker seems like a great place to start looking?
What are the advantages of buying a brand new Glock compared to used/refurbished?

I have had a couple of police guns that were traded in for new. The factory makes them like new. No complaints.

Summits price on the G23, with 3 hi caps, is a very good price. That is if the guns are clean and bores well taken care of. I've never bought from them so know nothing about return privileges.

buying used you can get some great deals and pick up a gun you otherwise couldn't afford. Most people don't shoot their guns a lot and that includes the LEO'S.
Just learn how to check them out and if possible pick a manufacturer that offered lifetime guarantees to anybody that owns the gun.

I bought my S&W 5906 from Mark at summit... I've had it for about a month and have already put 600 rounds through it... works like a champ.

Mark is a great guy to deal with, very busy guy, but answered my calls ASAP.

Last time I called him he had a bunch more guns comming in.

CDNN is a good place to get trade-ins too. The 39xx they have are LEO trade ins aparently, plenty of 40 S&W models too.

I recently picked up a Glock 22 which was a PD trade in. There is a local gun store here that has a bunch of them. All re-built by Glock. I've put roughly 500 rounds through mine so far and not one glitch yet.

I'm happy with mine. :)

Tried to buy from Summit and had no luck. Phone calls not returned, e-mails returned after four or five days (if at all). Committed to buy from him and asked for further instructions, no response. E-mailed, no response for four days and then got an e-mail saying that I should have gotten an e-mail but, in any case, there were none left. ***...?

I, for one, will NOT attempt to do business with him again.
