I'm looking for the old Lyman Orange Crusher single stage press. I had one years ago that I can't seem to find. Probably loaned it to a friend and since forgot about both it and the friend. I want another just because I'm familiar with it.

I figured these things would be all over the place- GB, Ebay, etc., but can't seem to find any. Any ideas on where to find one? Anyone got one to sell?

Thanks!

David

I think a lot of people keep them for spares, and for odd jobs without having to disturb their progressive. If your local gun shop(s) have a bulletin board, try putting up a "wanted" card, maybe somebody who has a spare would let it go if he new he had a buyer.

Paul is correct. When you've got a paid for Crusher, T-Mag, Rock Chucker, or another press of that ilk, it's hard to turn them loose. I've seen them on Ebay from time to time, but only one at a time. When they do appear, they tend to go for right prices as most of the bidders seem to be focused on RCBS and Dillon. They also show up on my local Craig's List, but you have to do a lot more digging since it's only going to be advertised as a "reloading press".

Check weekly on Ebay, one will turn up in short order.

I found one on craigslist locally a couple of months ago, paid $75 maybe was a little high but it was in like new condition with both priming arms :) but I don't see them hardly at all.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. It looks like I'll just have to look around for a bit.

Cochise- I may take you up on your offer. I'm going to search my basement one more time looking for mine. What sort of condition is your in?

I got one but I'm going to keep it. Then someday when it wears me out I going to will it to someone else.

The one I have is pretty much like new with the black plastic primer catcher. It has the soft rubber on the handle not a ball. pretty much all the paint is there. It has the primer arm but not an auto feed. I dont know if it is an Orange Crusher or a Crusher 2.

craigslist

I just picked one up two weeks ago as part of buying a guy out of his reloading stuff. Very solid piece. I did work it a little this weekend and I noticed that when you raise the handle the press actually goes up a little before it goes down. You have to make sure that you don't have your die too far down or you can't raise the handle. Is that a feature? ;)

It needs a shell holder retaining clip, which I just ordered from Lyman last week. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

what do you mean it goes up a little before going down? Is the bench flexing or is the press itself moving? Mine is rock solid.

Ask Lyman for a manual they will send one out to you for free.
