I know that all of you out there love sharing information, but it must get old doing the same thing over and over.

I am a proud owner of a new Kimber Custom II and it's pretty, it's so pretty. :) This is my first 1911 though, and I'm seeing that it is different from just about everything else I have worked with. Is there a place with a "What everyone should know" or a "Care and feeding of" the 1911? Or is that a good idea for a sticky thread here?

Any info appreciated. I've checked out M1911.org and been browsing, but not finding much concise info in one spot.

Here's the book you need: "The Gun Digest Book of The 1911." I got my copy at Border's book store, so they can order it for you. Give them the ISBN number, 0-87349-281-1, and the publisher, Krause Publications and they should be able to get a copy.

If Border's can't help you, you can call Krause at 800-258-0929 or 715-445-2214 to order.

Welcome to the world of the 1911!!

Get lots of paper..a 3 hole punch..a 3 ring binder, and fire up the printer.

Go to 'Members List' on this forum.

Find 1911Tuner.

Start reading his posts (there are about 6,000 of them).

Tuner has a wealth of knowledge and, whats more important, is willing to share it with us rookies.

Stephen A. Camp was written a book "The Shooter's Guide To The 1911 Pattern Pistol". I liked mine enough that I bought copies for each of my sons. Steve is a Moderator on this forum.

Like Tuner, he's 'good people'.

salty.
