I have a buddy with old stock, I can get a case of 223 wssm for almost free, same with 243. Looks like they have been out of production awhile, are they sold at a premium, or do rifles chambered in them sometimes come up for sale under 5-600?

You could always have a custom barrel turned for one and twist it into a Rem700 or Savage (or Encore if you want to do it on "Easy Mode")

Look into the "Remage" conversion barrels if you'd want to easily swap a barrel onto a Remington. It uses a nut similar to the Savage system.

You could always set an alarm on Gunbroker as well.

I got a Winchester Model 70 in .223 WSSM last year. Rifle, Leupold scope bases, and a box of ammo for $350 out the door. It seemed too good to pass up, and I had dreams of swapping the barrel and making something cool out of it. Unfortunately, with the smaller than normal action length on these 70's in wssm, I cant find a bolt with a non-magnum face. So it looks like I'm stuck with a wssm. But it's not a bad rifle, lightweight, low recoil. I think it will make a good coyote gun or youth deer rifle, and when I'm talking with guys about guns I can claim to have the fastest cartridge in the room.

The ammo would be a good investment. I have seen guys paying almost $100 a box for the WSSM's at shows. The Winchester 70 and Browning A-Bolt were the only rifles chambered for them I believe. They usually sell for much less than more common calibers because of the ammo situation.
