I am in the market for a new, or newly built shotgun. Wanting a Mossberg 935 badly but am on a budget and a pump will satisfy the need for now. I converted my 870 Wingmaster 12GA 2.75" into a home defense shotgun, it occured to me why not simply get an extra receiver and magazine and put the old barrel and stock on it? Anyone have a source for these?

When you purchase a receiver, you are buying a gun and not just a gun part. Perhaps you already know this.

I have a new reciever/mag That I bought just for the barrel because the barrel was almost as much as the whole gun. It is a 2005 or 2006 Express Its just sitting around in the original gun box but if I sell it it has to be shipped to a FFl for transfer which he will probably charge you around 10 - 15 bucks. If you need the trigger action bars and stock (everything but the barrel) I can do that, but I would rather just sell it stripped which is just the reciever, mag, shell latches, and ejector.

My dad goes "you can buy a cheap shotgun for under $200. Why not just do that?" Because I'd still have 870 parts, worth more than a cheap shotgun, still sitting around collecting dust! Looks like I can build one for around $100, maybe more. Would the furniture and barrel off a wingmaster be compatible with an express receiver?

Yup, I was going to hit up a local FFL to see what they charge for a transfer, unless they can order the parts new from somewhere.

PM sent.

Problem solved... sort of. Talk about an impulse buy. Saw an 870 express supermagnum for under $270, a birthday present to myself. It was calling my name. 26" barrel, synthetic stock, looks like it is parkerized or some finish that is definitely not blued. It boots me nicely
