I am having a hard time trying to decide which 45 model would be best for CCW.

G30 (10R of 45's makes me feel warm/fuzzy - but largest & thick)
G39 (Smaller than G30 - but unsure of 45GAPs power vs 45acp)
Kahr PM45 (Smallest by far - but only 5 rounds)

Which would you go for and why?

If you plan on carrying IWB/OWB then the 30 will be fairly easy to conceal, if you plan on pocket carry then go with the PM45.

I have no use for the GAP round, so the G39 would be out of the running for me.

PM45 for sure. It is the only one I would try to pocket carry, and that is what I prefer. Not to mention, I like unique and everybody and their brother has 2 Glocks.

I also used to have reserverations about caring a .45 with only 5+1=6 rounds. Then one day it struck me how stupid I was thinking, I don't mind a relvolver with 5 shots but I am lerry of an auto with 6.......:banghead: Stupid me LOL That makes a lot of scene don't it.

The Kahr is an excellent option. If the 5+1 really bothers you, then the CW45 offers you one more round in the clip. I am still amazed at how thin the CW is, and how easy it is to carry without any fear of giving myself up. I carry the CW everyday in a Don Hume IWB holster (made for a xd compact, but $5 at the pawn shop...) and ordered a Tucker leather holster for it last month. I can't wait to get my new rig.

I say go with the G30. I'm a skinny guy and I can conceal it very easily with an IWB holster from www.greatholsters.com I like how it holds 10+1 and can use the G21 13 round mags for reloads. In this day and age there is an increased risk of multiple attackers. The less you have to fumble with your sidearm to reload it the better your odds of surviving. Especially with the adrenaline dump playing havoc with gross motor skills.

I have both the 39 and the PM45

I like the 39 because the grip is the same as the model 26/27 but the slide is a little thicker. This gun is a shooter, the recoil is definitely less than the 27. the GAP produces the same power a the 45 acp. I chronoed my 39 and got 932 fps with Gold Dot 185 gr. (average for 5 shots). Easy to conceal.

The Kahr PM45 is taller than the 39 and a little more difficult to hide. The Kahr is thinner. I can get a full grip on the Kahr. Although I can get a full grip on the Kahr, my preception is the Glock has a softer kick. This gun shoots well for me and I have fired 100 rounds in a session without discomfort. Capacity is 5 +1

I voted 39. It's cheaper, and holds one more shot.

The G-30 has very little recoil for a .45. If you want a slim CCW though, look at the G-36.

To be honest none of them. The Glocks to me are not a pistol that the 45 is well suited to. They are to light and the recoil in the small Glocks just is not fun to me. The Kahr I just flat do not like the feel of it. There are so many options in a 45 that I would broaden my scope and try a few others before I settled on one. Personally a small framed 1911 would do just fine.

The compact Glock 38 is a sweet weapon.

.45 GAP is about the same as ACP in feel and performance, but it fits into the smaller Glock frames.

To many the Glocks feel wierd, but for some reason the compact models feel a bit more "normal". Plus being the perfect size for a CCW. Perfect balence of size and firepower.

BUT, they couldn't fit a .45 into that frame. Thus the popularity of the Glock 23 (.40), myself included.

Now they have the GAP, and it fits the compact frame. If I spot the ammo on the shelfs regularly, I'll grab one. I hope it catches on.

Deosn't Springy and Smithy offer guns in .45GAP now as well?

Can't say one bad thing about my G21SF...goes bang every time, 13 in the mag and one in the pipe and puts the rounds where you piont it... if your hand fits it.:D

You might also consider a G36 as it is a single stack. A 1911 commander or officer model would also work for IWB or OWB.

I knew I would be in the minority in selecting the G39. But although the round hasn't caught on, it does seem to deliver the performance of the 45acp in a smaller platform.

OTOH, who knows whether you'll be able to keep it fed.

45 single stack full size that feels/fires/hits to your best ability. The extra weight will gain accuracy and unless you only weigh 80 pounds a full size single stack will conceal reasonably well in most instances.
