Trying to decide on a 40 Carry gun for IWB. Here are the finalists. Which would you pick and why. This is intended for ccw, so carry a lot and shoot a lot for proficiency. Want something that can honestly be carried comfortably day in, day out.

Kahr P40
Pros - thin, light, comofrtable to conceal.
Cons - Reliablitiy is ?,

Sig 239:
Pros - High quality, love the look/feel
Con- the largest to conceal and substantial weight

Glock 27
Pro - double stack capacity, glock reliability
Cons - Is it too thick to carry edc?

XD40SC (3in)
Pro - reliable and love the safety, especially for carry
Con - Is it too thick? cant seem to find specs of width. Heavy as well

Well, I carry the K40 pretty often. Blackened stainless with ??tungsten DLC finish and night sights. I think its a great carry gun, and the extra 7.3oz over the P40 will help tame the recoil. Plus, the hogue rubber grips are awesome. Trigger pull is long and somewhat heavy (esp at first), but oh so smooth! After shooting it a few times, I pretty easily put 5 rounds into 3 inch circles at 30ft slowfire. The K40 does not feel very heavy on my belt, its only 26oz with mag and unloaded. Nothing like the 1911 I've been carrying in the colder weather. I have no problems carrying it using a regular leather belt, not a gunbelt. Its very slim, which is a huge plus. The glock and XD seem much fatter to me. Less concealable, I felt. The Sig P239 is a nice pistol as well, but seems bigger and less concealable IMO.

Oh, and my K40 has never had a failure of any kind!

Any one will do. I carry a G26. I don't think it's too thick but opinions will vary.

I would have gone with the S&W M&P 40 Compact if it had been included in the list. 100% reliable, well built, accurate, comfortable, easily concealable pistol.

The Glock 27 is not too thick to carry IWB. It's the exact same size as my G26, and it disappears under an untucked shirt in an IWB holster.

best ccw handgun...

Although I don't own a 40 cal I do own a 45 and the one I use for ccw is the Glock 30.
Despite what many may say & feel I do not find this gun to be too thick to wrap my hands around. In fact for a pistol with 10 in the clip and one in the chamber, it's perhaps the most compact pistol I have come across.

As far as a safety is concerned I too HAD reservations about the Glock. But being super impressed with their reliability and the Tenefir finish that's tougher than nails, I decided to go Glock regardless. BUT I did have the COMINOLLI manual safety installed. Since then I haven't looked back! Now I ccw with one in the chamber and have that extra degree of SAFETY with a manually operated safety. The best of Glock with a safety, what more can I say.

the kahr would be a great choice but the polymer framed models i am not a fan of at all.

i have no problem ccw a xd sc or a mid size glock, i am not a fan of baby glocks. so of what you have there i would say go with either a mid size glock, ie the 19/23 or the sc xd. higher capacity than the kahr and they are very easy to conceal with a good holster.

The SIG P239 would be my choice, Glocks are ok but in my opinion the SIG is the best built most reliable, finest combat pistols ever made.

If I was choosing between these 4, the XD would be my choice.

My overall 1st choice would and M&P compact, but the XD came in a close second in my shooting.
