Hi, how is everybody doing? I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on Double Tap ammo. They have very hot loadings, from 115gr. to 147gr. Their ammo is kind of expensive, howeverI would like to try some as personal defense ammunition. The 115gr. is rated at over 1400fps, which is really hot, and the 147gr. is 1135fps. What do you guys think about this ammunition?

I like their loads in my .45 auto. They are hot but reliable and accurate. I think you would be happy with them in your 9mm, though be warned the recoil is probably more than non-+P loads, though I haven't tried Double Tap in my 9mm.

I think if you compare the delivered price for Double Tap to buying any of the other premium 9mm rounds in your gun store, you'll find DT is little if any more in cost.

Do you think that the lighter or heavier grain are better? I have heard that 147gr. in 9mm is not that great. I currently have 124gr+p Speer Gold Dots in my Beretta. Double Tap have 147gr+p which seem like they would be really good.

definitely not an expert but

ymmv, I believe that 124 grn 9mm to be the sweet spot for 9mms. in the 9mms I have shot regardless of ammo maker it tends to be more accurate, more reliable, and the most controlable.

I am especially fond of speer gold dots but my super cheap source has evaporated. woe is me! I used to get boxes of 50 fot 12.95.
