Hello friends,

I want to add an Ak-47 to my inventory for about $500.00 give or take 50. Furniture is not important to me as I plan on giving it a UTG quad rail, Tapco pistol grip and ATI strikeforce folding stock. I have found that WASR 10's and AMD-65's are both in my price range. With the AMD, is it easy to upgrade the side folding wire buttstock?... and how much accuracy is lost with the shorter barrel?

I see some people mounting reflex sights on the front quadrail. Is that too much eye relief for effective aiming with say and Aimpoint or Eotech...or would i be better off with a side mounting top rail?

Sorry for my jumbled thoughts, it's a bit late here. Any quality insight would be much appreciated.

I would go with a Yugo M70B1. The ones coming out Century Arms now are very nice for the price.

The UTG quad rail is well made for the money. If you want to co-witness with the iron sights the UltiMak gas tube & rail is the only one that will co-witness with some RD sights like the Aimpoint T-1 sight and it's copies. You don't need eye relief with non magnified RD sight. A forward mounted RD sight works very well and they are fast on target.

Tapco pistol grips are good but would go with a ACE folding stock.

Wire folders are uncomfortable and a cheek weld is nonexistent.

WASR10 will be OK also if you get one of the new ones coming out of Century Arms now. They are producing some good quality AKs so far this year.
