Which AK mags should I buy??

My clear pro-mag 30 rounders were pretty cheap and have been flawless since I got em. They've gotten extremely dirty at times and been just fine, and just being around me is a pretty rough ride so I'll vouch for their durability too.

Not a bad buy, though the first couple of insertions into the magwell will be a little sticky. Nothin bad, just gotta manhandle it a bit.

They're noticeably lighter too.

I could never tell steel AK mags apart. Get whichever one.

The underfolders will fold with 30 or 20 round mags.

I've seen a couple people here dump on the Pro-mag polys. Have you guys actually used them? I exclusively use the clear poly Pro-mags in my rifle. Have yet to have a magazine related failure with thousands of rounds through them.

Not sure if they still do this - but sportsmansguide (?) a few months ago was selling 12 used steel mags for ~$30. They looked beat to crap and were mostly Eastern European or occasionally Chinese. There were even some rare mags cropping up.

Despite their appearance, once you removed the cosmoline 95% worked in my crappy WASR and I'm sure you could make the last 5% work with a little filing.

Clear mags tend to crack over time, even unloaded, cheap ones and expensive ones.

Promags get a bad rap sometimes because they use springs that are not mil spec, some people have swapped out the Pro mag springs for mil spec springs and have no problems...

will the folding stock still operate correctly with a 30rnd mag in the well?
On my Vector underfolder (and the other AK's I've seen), yes with a 30 rounder, no with 40 rounders.

I have some yugo BHO mags. I like the fact it tells you when it's empty but it makes it so you have to yank the mag out with more force and the bolt slams home when you do that. I suppose I should put on a different safety bar with a bolt hold so I can lock it back.
