Which and why?

My SBH three-screw is my favorite centerfire handgun. The action is SO nice. It is rugged. It's from 1970, IIRC, and was shot a bajillion times before I got it. I've shot it a bajillion more times. Still locks up tight.

I'd rather have my SBH three-screw than any DA medium-framed revolver, but that's just me.

FWIW, I wanted a Colt revolver just to have one, and found an Army Special in 38 special for $300 or something. It has a nice action and scratched the itch for me.

Sorry not any help here. I shoot and have both and couldn't live firearms life without both. (Just wish Colt would have swallowed pride and chambered 41 Remington Magnum) ... maybe someday. If pushed it Blackhawk. Due to SA familiarity and muscle memory / proficiency.

While I have genuine affection for Ruger SA's, Vanfunk in post 11 makes an argument that resonates with me. I think S&W's K frame might be the most shootable design for me, Rugers, especially the single actions have been (for me)so reliable, simple and robust, but Colts have been good investments for me, when purchased right, easy to satisfactorily liquidate. The Colt is a fairly uncommon, and refined piece of history, and likely the better investment.
