I decided to go with the Ruger SR762 over the Sig. ( They seem to be very close in what they have to offer.)
The primary reasons as to why I went with the Ruger over the Sig are as follows....
1. The Ruger felt a tad less muzzle heavy vs the Sig. ( 8.6lbs = Ruger, and 9.3lbs = Sig concerning overall weight.)
2. Ruger's hammer forged heavy contour 1-10 twist chrome lined bbl. ( It's fluted under the hg, and handles almost as well as a pencil thin tube, so I believe it will have more potential for accuracy, and maintain it during rapid fire strings.)
3. I preferred Ruger's aluminum adaptable hand guard over the Sig's hand guard, and it protrudes over the gas block thus provides for better protection from fingers possibly getting burnt via a hot gun. I personally do not need the massive amount of rail space that the Sig's hg provides.
4. The Ruger sold with 3-20rd mags, a front sight adjustment tool, soft case, 3 rail covers, and 2 sections of rail.
5. The BCG,bolt, and firing pin are chromed with the Ruger.
I did slightly prefer the Sig's stock to that of the Ruger, and the Sig does sell with a sling, but feel I ended up with more overall for the money by going with the SR762.
I also believe that Ruger will eventually expand their SR762 line up in much the same way they have done with their SR556. ( Different models, complete uppers, and possibly move into other cartridges such as 243, 260, and 7mm-08)
FWIW...... I have yet to mount any optics on it, and have only put 140rds thru it using the Sampson iron sights that sold with the rifle.
I shoot my 18in tubed M14 types much better, but mainly because I have much more time behind them vs the SR762.
