Does a 1.5" wide double thick leather gun belt fit most common pants (blue jeans, casual work pants)? Or would a 1.25" be better? I'm looking for the widest belt possible that will fit most pants. I have some decent leather belts but nothing thick to compare to.

Any feedback appreciated, as always :)

I have a Milt Sparks 1.5" sharkskin belt that fits almost all of my pants. It fits all my jeans, also all my khakis. Dockers and Farrahs, okay. I have one pair of dress Dockers that it will fit all loops one time through (tight), but I can't get it to thread second time into first loop past the buckle. And, of course, it won't fit into the loops of my suit.

Hope that helps.

I wore 1.75" belts for years and years. Lately, it is difficult to find even jeans with loops that wide. 1.5" loops are common on work-brand khakis (Dickies, Sears Field Pants, etc.) and all of the straight-leg jeans. You can find 1.5" loops on some casual dress slacks (Dockers, etc.) but as soon as you move into anything that lays a claim to "fashion", the loops shrink to 1.25". I can't even imagine trying to tote an N frame and backup on one of these spaghetti belts. Guess I'll just never make the cover of Gentlemens' Quarterly.....still a chance at Field & Stream, tho' (That would be the inside back cover, on the Prince Albert ad :D)

I think I will go with the 1.5" and dress accordingly. I really want the stability of wide belt and one that fills the loops.

Thanks for the replies.
