I need the adjustability of the inserts for a mount. But which model do I need? The XTR Signature look too bulky. Putting it on a Weaver pic rail on my 10-22 with a 2-7X tube. The Zee rings for a rail? I see 4 options on the Burris site. Signature, ZEE, XTR and Rimfire. Once I settle on the rings how do I decide what insert to get. From what I can tell only the XTR comes with all the inserts. With the other models you have to order them separately? Is that right? And do all their ring models accept the inserts?

No, not all Burris rings accept inserts. ONLY the “Signature” rings take the inserts, the Signature (used to be called Signature Zee) and the XTR Signatures. These do not use the same kind of insets - the XTR Signature version are much wider rings and use a more flattened collar type insert, while the Signature use a narrower, more rounded insert.

Rimfire among the Signature models are a 3/8”/11mm dovetail Rimfire compatible model, but otherwise the same up top. If you have something with a dovetail rail, then these would be your option (like a Marlin 60).

Yes, the XTR Signature rings are much bulkier than the Signature rings. Quite bulky overall, even for tactical rings, but they do hold very well, and the angular correction is an awesome feature. The Signature rings are relatively svelte, but they’re single screw rings - they’re made to be smaller, but obviously as two screw caps and single screw clamps, they’re not built to be as tough as the XTR’s.

Below are a couple of ours with XTR Signature and Signature rings, respectively.

I have used the Signature Zee rings a lot and like the inserts for when it comes to protecting the finish on good glass.

So the Signature Zee rings seem the way to go. How do I determine which Pos-Align inserts to get?

How far do you want to shoot and with which cartridge? And what rail do you have on the rifle? Flat or angled?

Thanks, Odd Job.

Varmint: .22LR out of my 10-22 with a standard Weaver rail. Mounting a 2-7X scope for just normal everyday use. Plinking, squirrels, targets, etc.

@Grayrock - I generally like to have 20moa of angle built into my 22’s. Why? Because a 100yrd zero eats up ~17moa with a flat rail and rings, so using a 20moa angle puts my 100yrd zero a lot closer to optical center. So PERSONALLY, I’d use a set of 20moa inserts on that set up.
