OK, I'm fed up and I want to get new nipples for my revolvers. But even after some searches and reading a dozen or so threads that skirt around the topic I still can't find any sort of definitive list of which caps fit which OEM and aftermarket nipples.
And by "fit" I mean that they don't need pinching and don't need to be pushed on with Superman like strength that significantly stretches and reforms the copper cap.
If we can get a good number of replies my offer is to update this first post with a regularly edited table that puts all the data into one table for all to see at a glance.
I'm looking for data on the stock OEM nipples for different guns and manufacturing dates as well as all the currently made aftermarket nipples.
If you could write the replies in the format shown below that would be helpful.
In the "Caps tried and results obtained" portion please detail the need for anything like pinching needed or strong seating force needed or if they simply slipped on and were adequately seated with moderate thumb pressure. Also include any reports of frequent failures to ignite if you encountered such.
Include any other interesting finds.
TO make it easy to reply I've put the data input formats in a separate post below. Just left click and drag over the text to select it all then Ctl-C or right click and "Copy". Then in the Quick Reply area hit Ctl-V or right click and "Paste". Then fill in after the dashes.
Table of data to follow- It's up to you lot now....
EDIT- OK, I'm mostly asking for data related to revolvers. But to help make this a "One Stop Shopping" experience submit your caplock rifle experience as well and I'll include a portion of the data table for caplock side hammer rifles and muzzle loading shotguns as well.
Oh, what the hell, if folks post modern inline data I'll even put that in the table.
