I just received another email that I don't know the answer to. The person was asking about carrying a CZ cocked and locked.

I don't know which CZ's are 1911-style and which are not.

Can anybody help?

Thanks.

Hello. I believe that the CZ 83, 75, 85, and their .45 auto can be carried cocked and locked. Unless there is a "D" for decocker in the model designation, I think they can be carried in condition one. I don't remember on the compacts or the PCR model.

Best.

Any 75 or 85 (9mm or 40) without a 'D' designation, a 97 (45 acp) or 83 (32, 380 0r 9 mak). They are all SA/DA - choose your poison!!! The PCR is a de-cocker.

The CZ-75 Compact (all-steel compact) can be carried C&L, as can the RAMI. The alloy-framed ones (P01, PCR) cannot. The SP-01 can, the SP-01 Tactical cannot.

I really like the ability of the CZs to fire from three different positions; cocked and locked, hammer down or half-cock. I just picked up a 75B and RAMI and look forward to wringing them out.

I agree.......they were meant to be carried on the half cock notch. Carrying full hammer down, just has no merit. The reason the decockers end up there is just a matter of mechanics. Lots if not most of the CZ's can be carried Cond 1.
Mine is on my side.......just like that.
Shoot well.

The Compact had a safety, not a decocker, so I decocked completely. The trigger pull was just fine at full decock, so I went with it. The PO1 has a decocker, so I let it go to half cock, and the trigger pull is perfect. See half cock in this picture...shameless of me, isn't it?

The newer CZ (B) models have a firing pin block (and the firing pin can't go forward until the trigger is fully to the rear), so the gun is equally safe whether carried hammer fully-down or on the half-cock notch. A drop or blow won't cause it to fire. Half-cock starts are lighter and shorter.

Thanks for all the replies. My email friend would also like your opinions on which 9mm CZ model that can be carried in Condition One is the best.

Talk about a hornet's nest!

Any CZ that doesn't have a decocker does Cocked and Locked.

Which is "best" is a matter of personal preference.

The internal mechanisms are all virtually the same -- with most parts interchanging on the 75-based models. (Even the 40B shares parts with the 75B.)

The differences are generally slide and frame dimensions.

Walts ssssooo right. Each gun has its own personality and may or may not mesh with certain people. Most find the plain 75B very nice. I prefer the SA for a fullsize gun. I also love my 40B.......to each his own.
Shoot well.

Eric pretty much said it. Each model has it's own personality. My hand tends to fit the full size plastic gripped 75's best, while I just can't deal with the RAMI at all.

The P01 is really good for average-sized hands.

I've tried it out on my new CZ75B - in fully cocked state I pulled the trigger and slightly lowered the hammer, then released the trigger and dropped the hammer to the safety notch (half-cocked). It is a very useful feature as it is not very safe to drop the hammer full-way down, but rather only to the half way.

Confusing text :cuss: but hope you get it.

They made the safety lever on the RAMI so small I wonder if it is really intended to be carried cocked and locked? It would be difficult to reach it in a hurry while drawing. Other than that, it's a fine little pistol. It feels a lot better in my hand than a Glock 26 and I've had one for years.
