Which do you shoot better?

Hands-down, 1911 pistols. Okay with DA/SA pistols and K-frame revolvers, but apparently I'm a poster boy for why the 1911 is a superior platform in combat pistolcraft and competition ...

Certainly, revolvers can be more accurate than service-grade pistols. But the OP didn't ask, "Which do you shoot more accurately?"

if you know the fundamentals of shooting it doesnent make any dirrerrence what kind of gun you shoot,
As far as shooting adequately, sure. But if you're training for survival and you're down to a handgun, what you've trained with the most is what you're going to shoot faster and more accurately.

Autos

I can say with a 100% certainty that I'm better with full frame autos. They just fit my hand type better, and target acquisition is natural and faster.

I do better with little snubbys than I do with sub compact autos though so idk there's a flip side to everything I guess.;)

I know theoretically there should be no difference in sight fundamentals and all'at, but an auto just feels much better in my hand. I like revolvers, I have three in fact, but somehow they never feel very well balanced. Too much weight hanging out front, instead of centered more over my hand.
Ah, subjectivity.

I shoot full size autos better, which is not to say that I shoot them well; just better than revolvers. Autos feel better in my hand too, which probably plays a role. Full size 1911 being my favorite for all around fit, feel, pointability, and accuracy.

I like shooting 'em all. Generally don't have trouble adapting to a specific gun with a bit of practice.

I do hate chasing brass, and that's pretty much got me converted over to an all wheel gun fleet. I don't know if I 'shoot' better with them, but I enjoy it more.

Now if that darn SRH in 454 would show up already... :)

I can shoot auto's better but in revolvers a short barrel feels better. Have a 4 inch python that shoots good but I can do better with my Kimber target or compact. I think it's what a person shoots the most with. And I shoot autos
more that's why I shoot them better.

I DONT shoot single action revolvers all that well. Though I don't devote much attention to the ones I own. The manual of arms bugs me. Do you all think they are harder to shoot or it depends on how much time you devote to them?

I do fine with an an auto, but better with a .357 K frame. The one I shoot the best, I don't carry. it's a SAA in .45, and a bit hard to conceal.

I shoot semiautos better than revolvers, but that is probably because I am more practiced with them. There's something about the visceral appeal of revolvers; in some ways I find them preferable, but I'm just better with a bottom feeder.

I suspect it has a lot more to do with erogonomics vs. physique than action type. For example, I have a Ruger Bisley in 45 Colt. It is extremely easy to use. I used to work at a gun shop that had an indoor range. I've seen guys that couldn't keep their shots on a silhouette target at 7 yards with an auto. I'd let them try my Ruger and typically they'd keep it in or close to the 9 or 10 ring. That said, a Blackhawk looks almost identical but is considerably more difficult to shoot well.

Some of the SA/DA autos have extremely poor trigger pull. There's no way most guys are going to shoot one of those well.

Grip angle and design along with trigger pull have everything to do with shooting a pistol well. 1911's have a smaller grip and work well with shooters that have medium or small hands.

For anything pocket pistol sized, I shoot a semi-auto pistol far better. Think Kahr PM9 versus j-frame.

Get a bit larger, up to a 3" or 4" 1911 vs a 4" K frame, and it evens out.

I have owned 6" S&Ws and 5" 1911s, but no longer own either. I cannot/will not carry either and so have little use for either.

Want to talk rimfire? I shoot my Ruger MKII and my S&W M-18 equally well, although the Ruger is easier to point and click due to the SA trigger.

When starting a new shooter, I let them try each. Almost invariably, they shoot better with the Ruger (with one exception to date).

Long-barelled revolvers. Maybe when my long-slide shows up things will be different.

I can hit a 6" paper plate from 25 yards with either my G-17, S&W 629 OR either of my rimfires pretty reliably.

That said, I'd say I shoot best with my Ruger 22/45, balancing speed and accuracy, followed (closely actually) by the G-17. More auto trigger time. Mix in fire and movement, and working one-handed on strong and weak side, and the Glock comes out on top.

For pure accuracy, the 6" .44 Magnum wins, hands down. It has the sweetest SA trigger, 3 pounds or even a little under. This one makes hitting silhouettes at 50 yards almost easy, in SA. If we're in DA-mode, swing back to the Glock.

The SA revolver Bisley frame does seem rather comfortable, I really do need to acquire one and see how I do. A .44mag Ruger with that frame is on my want list sort of.

Definitely better with a single action semi-auto, and always have been.

Never have liked the longer, heavier trigger pull of a revolver. Also prefer the grip of a semi-auto like the 1911 to that of a revolver.

Autoloaders, except when shooting SA in a wheelgun..This isn't part of your question, but what really "p@#s"s me off" is when I shoot better with many of my cheap guns rather than the hi-$$$$ one's...:banghead:
