I am going to be ordering one of these for my full size springfield 1911 Which of these two would you get? I really like shoulder rigs and find galco to be some of the best the jackass seems like it will conceal easier as the gun is in a diagonal sort of position and the holster is cut off to avoid "muzzle printing" in the rear. The SS2 is straight horizontal and a full holster which could print so has anyone here carried a full size 1911 in either of these rigs, and if so what are your experiances with them and which did you like better and why?

An FYI: Having a holster "cut off" as you call it, or an open ended holster has nothing to do with the print.

It depends on the cant angle and length of the gun and the dimensions of the person wearing it. Just because the leather cuts off at a certain distance dosent mean you can hide a Glock 34 6 days a week and twice on sunday.

My .02.

I have a Jackass rig that I like a lot. Though I haven't carried a GM 1911, I have carried SIG 226/228/225/239 (I have a couple of holsters for it), and you're right, the ability to hang the gun diagonally can make it pretty discrete (and depending on your build, more comfortable). I would add that I'm fairly 'thick', i.e. I wear a 48-50L jacket (6'3". 260#), so I can hide a lot of things under a suitcoat or jacket.

FWIW, I don't know that you can't do that with the Miami Classic, as the harness (which is the same for either set-up) is pretty adjustable, but from the pictures, the Jackass rig appears to be more appropriate to diagonal carry, whereas the MC was designed for horizontal carry.

Also, if you aren't carrying for duty or daily, look at Galco's 'light' rigs - I recently picked one up for my Kimber Ultra Carry. It's the same harness with a soft sueded holster (fits all 1911 patterns, though most appropraite for Cmdr/O- models) and single mag pouch, $65. Very nice for occasional carry.

HTH, stay safe -

Cool9mm would you day its a comfortable rig to wear and how well does it conceal for you? I carried a 1911 in an ss2 clone for a long time and really liked it alot. I think shoulder holsters aern't for everyone but for me they just fit,I've heard once a glaco shoulder rig is properly adjusted or sized for the wearer that these are among the most comfortable shoulder rigs going is this true? thanks
