Which Glock would you get?

I like this -

But I have a G19 too. Remember a G19 can use the G17 mags and the 33 round mags too.

For stopping power, pick up a 33 rounder...so any 9mm Glock is good:

I've gotta shoot a pic of this, but I have the G 21 with two 30-round mags. Not the Scherer mags mind you - those are crap. These were made by KRISS for their proprietary submachine gun. But these machine guns are designed for GLOCK mags.

I see that you are opting for the 9mm. I'm sure you'll be happy with that too.

One other note: For a little money, you can get a luminous front sight only for GLOCKs. Many people including me agree that is the only sight you'll use in a social scenario within your home. That's what I've done.

My 2nd gen Glock 23 has been a great pistol. Lot of bang in a compact package. If I was buying now, however, it'd likely be a G19 or G26.

I'll tell you what I want to get, and that's a G21SF! My first Glock is a G22, next came the Austrian marked G19. These are my CCW and night stand guns, and I hope to add the G21SF soon!

I bought a G20SF a few months back to be my "woods gun" for hunting, hiking and backpacking, but I haven't shot it yet. Should be able to handle any threats I come across here in PA, four legged or two!

glock 19

glock was originally a 9mm, and they just modified the 9mm over to 40cal when that cartridge became popular, as a result it is most durable and accurate in 9mm, and the recoil with the 40 glock bothers some people

i have 115 grn +P+ law enforcement winchester rangers in mine-that's another plus, the glock 19 can take +P+ all day long

the glock 45's are based on the 10mm glock which came out first, strangely enough. as a result they are way too wide (built beefy to handle the high pressure 10mm).

I think the mid-sized Glocks are the best (except for my G21), although I dumped my G19's for the G23. Why not have more power in the same sized guns?

Glock 19, the best all around choice. Economic & effective caliber(if you are not a cal.-.4X-or-die fanatic), decent round capacity, small and light enough for carry, but not too small for range and games.

You mentioned that you didn't get to handle any in .40

Deosn't matter, they're the same size /shape as the 9mm Glocks. The Glock 23 is exactly the same size/shape as the 19 you handled.

I also find the top of the 21 to be very much like an aircraft carrier. That gun is just a tad too big for me to carry, which is why I carry the 23. If the Glock 38 (19,23 sized. .45gap) catches on and more GAP ammo shows up, then I can see adding one of those.

If you must get a Glock....

If in 9mm... the 17... shorter, the 19.

If in 40.... the 22... shorter, the 23.

If in 45... the 21SF Only!

I carried a 22 for the longest time, both duty and concealed.

Now I prefer the 21SF for my work.

I personally do not like the short grip, pinky danglers.

:D

Get what fits your hands the best and what model Glock you feel comfortable with. For me I have the Glock 19 and 23. Caliber was not so much a concern as the fit of the Glock. The compact Glocks feel the best in my hands. A 45 Glock does not feel good to me, even the SF models. I held a Springfield XD 45 in my hand and it was much better, but I already have what I need. Good luck in your choice.

I am crazy about my G30, but I have big hands, so it doesn't "feel like an aircraft carrier", MAN you guys are brutal...

Like everyone else i agree with the Glock 19, but if you can't carry because you live in a no carry state then you can go with the Glock 17. Another option you can throw in the mix is a Glock 34. I had all 3 and kept the 19 and 34 traded the 17.

Which Glock?

I have had a Glock 26 for quite some time. I've had more fun with this gun than a person has a right to have. I wanted something a bit bigger, so I purchased a Glock 22c. The 40mm is bigger, more energy, yet is almost as cheap to buy ammo for. I was shocked when I hit the range for the first time that the recoil of the 22c was basically tame. I don't know how else to describe it. It made the 26 seem like an undisciplined child by comparison. And it really does hit harder - by a real noticeable margin.

Consider the 22c. It's easy on the hand, quite powerful, and ammunition is priced right.

I'd go 9mm Glock first -- specifically the 19. Glock started with the 9mm pistol and went from there for a reason.
After that, I'd probably go 45 acp.

I thoroughly enjoy my 21 and shoot it well. I have larger hands, so it fits nicely.

Definitely go and feel out all the different models and buy what feels best to you.

Quick update and question, finally got in touch with our church friend and his gun shop. He has several 19's in stock and very reasonable pricing, so I know where I am going to get it. He also said he had a used 19 in LNIB with an extra clip, so 3 clips all together. He said it was also less then the NIB guns he has. What should I look for in the used Glock, and is an extra mag worth the used price as opposed to new for not much more? Thanks guys I plan on picking something up today. Now I just need my dies and bullets.......
