Which gun to buy? Special EURO guy requests.

Here i am. I didn't think i'll get that many answers. Country is Slovenia.

As much i was a teoretical CZ fan, i was able to shoot couple times this week with different pistols. I shot Tanfoglio, Glock 17 and 19, and Slovenian copy of Sig Sauer - Rex 01.

My best shooting came from Tanfoglio. But my hand prefered the Glock. I also like upgrade possibilities of Glocks for future. I know it's not the best gun for everything but it's a good all around gun. Good price. And they are easier to buy in my country. CZs are not. So right now, i'm looking into Glocks, specialy model 34. Mistake?

If you like it, then get it - as much as I don't like them I have to admit that Glocks are good, reliable guns. Just don't rush with the aftermarket parts, that are supposed to make your gun shoot better. Most of that is just a hype, or the difference is so small that only an experienced shooter will notice it. Shoot it first. And I mean shoot it - put at least 1000-2000 rounds thru it and then decide what parts you would like to change.

Best,
Boris

That's never a mistake. The Glock is enormously successful because it does all the essential things quite well. I tend to agree with the advice not to rush to customize your pistol. It is quite good as it comes from the factory.

Arex pistols are rare here in the USA but an importer is trying to stir up interest:

Good choice, especially considering you like the Glock's fit. I agree with you on the Glock's looks, but they are reliable and accurate. If you were looking more towards a carry gun, I'd recommend the Glock 19, but if it's a range gun you want, the 34 is a good one.

Thanks for the update. Slovenia is pretty.

Tanfoglio makes good stuff, which one did you shoot? Some are CZ 75 clones, though they've made their own twist on features.

Your neighbors make the HS2000, which is very popular in the US, under the Springfield XD name. Not sure how available that is for you, the concept is similar to Glock. Ultimately if your hand likes the 34, that's a good sign.

A Glock is a great choice, durable, long lived and shoots quite well. I had a G34 Gen 3 and liked it a lot, but recently tried a Gen 4 a buddy has and liked it even more. The upgrade possibilities are endless and virtually anything can be done by yourself if you're even moderately handy.

If you're still open to a higher price option and they are available you may want to look at HK's. Incredibly well built, more ergonomic than Glock with not only rear but side grip inserts on the VP9 & P30 series. The USP Tactical or Expert is an older design without the changeable grip inserts but both come with superb sights and a match trigger. Incredibly nice and very accurate guns.

Glock 34 is a great firearm. It has the lighter target triigger as standard. The extra barrel length gives a longer distance between the sights, making it easier to shoot. The downside is its harder to carry concealed inside the pants than the Glock 17.
If you want to try Practical shooting (mock combat, or 'run and gun', then the Glock 17 is approved for Production Division where you shoot against other 9mm guns. The Glock 34 falls into Standard Division, where it is handicapped against the .40 and .45 caliber guns that dominate that division.

Personally I would buy the Glock 17 MOS if available. That will give you the option of mounting optics at a later date.

What can you tell me about Walther PPQ M2? Is it better than Glock 34? I can see there is a new PPQ Q5 match also available now.

I've no personal experience with the Walther. Online reviews suggest an inherently accurate gun with a better trigger than the Glock.

Good for you, Slovenia is the only country I would consider moving to.

Too bad I couldn't get a job there .... or, given this is THR, carry a gun.

Still, some of the things you wrote just - don't - make - any - sense.

Gun laws in Europe are different in every European country but you probably know they are very tough.
Aren't Slovenia's laws relatively OK as regards Europe?

used market doesn't exist
Eh?

Took me 15 seconds to find two shops that have them. Seems to me there's plenty to choose from.
