Which gun to purchase next?

Hello all...this is my first post on the site here...

It seems as though my love for semi-autos is undying and i have come to the conclusion I want to buy another gun here in the next 2-3 weeks. Here is a list of what I own already, in order of purchase:
-Sig Sauer P229R .40 cal with night sights and crimson trace laser grips
-Springfield XD sub compact .40 cal w/od green frame, truglo tfo night sights
-Glock 20C (10MM)
-HK USP Compact .40 cal with tru dot night sights
-(Ordered) Kimber Custom II TLE/RL .45, 5" barrel

I'm looking for a rather inexpensive gun to shoot. My father has a billion rounds of 9mm which he never shoots (and probably doesn't ever plan on it) so I was wondering what a good range gun would be to have chambered in 9mm?

I dont really care about the size of the gun, however I do tend to favor 3.8-4.5" barrel length guns.

Ideal price range would be right around $350/$375 and under $500/$550. I am not opposed to purchasing a used gun as like i said this will be a range gun and i will be shooting probably over 10,000 rounds through it.

A CZ-75 variant would work well. A 75B or if you're going to carry it for CCW, a PCR or P-01.
 
CZ is a great option in 9mm.


You didn't mention Concealed carry so I assume it's just a range gun. So some 9s I would recommend:
Glock 19
Springfield XDM
 
A range gun, you say? Seems to me you're missing a very important caliber in your collection, 22LR. If you're going to the range to increase your shooting skills than a dedicated or conversion kit 22LR would be great. You can get conversion kits for your Sig, your Glock or the Kimber. You'll literally be able to shoot 22 all day for what 100 rounds of centerfire ammo would cost.

On the other hand, if you're going to the range to burn money, see big flashes and make big bangs (and there is nothing wrong with this, if that's what you're after) than you already have the perfect gun for this, your G20C.

I would also second the CZ 75 PCR. Fun and easy to shoot all day (and accurate), and you can conceal it easily enough too.

And what's not to like about the Glock 19?
 
Sig SP2022 with night sights? About $460 and you can burn up that 9mm as you please. I'd buy a used BHP were it me but new does offer some advantages.
 
I'm wondering if you can get a drop in 9mm barrel for that Sig P229R. I honestly don't know if you can, but it may be worth exploring as an inexpensive option.

If you're looking for an inexpensive gun in 9mm I would check out a Glock 19, CZ75B, Ruger SR9. Just stick with a name brand.

OR you could check out one of the nice, used S&W 3rd generation semi's out there like the 5906 at CDNN.
 
SA XDm 4.5! Interchangeable backstraps and a match grade barrel to get the most accuracy possible. Or you could always get the .40 and add a 9mm barrel to shoot both calibers.;)
 
I know this won't go over well, but have you looked at a Stoeger Cougar? They are inexpensive and relatively well made guns. I have one in .40 cal just as a fun gun for targets. For what you pay ($400 new, $350 on sale, $450 for one in .45 ACP) they are pretty good little pistols. I have about 500 rounds through mine (not much I know) and haven't had any malfunctions. If you're looking to save money, they are not a bad option.
 
that Stoeger Cougar looks so much like the CZ, FNH and EAA pistols...those all look the same to me...Today i found a new Sig Pro SP2022 9mm with 2 10 rd clips (im in CA) for $410 shipped. Does that seem like a good deal?
 
Cali, check out Bud's Gun Shop online, you can get the version with night sights for $447 (seems like a popular choice with you) or the standard version for $394. $410 would however be a descent price if it's what you want.

I suppose I might have suggested an M&P 9Pro (the 4 1/4" version) as a great choice if it had been in your price range, I have the compact and long slide versions in 9mm in addition to the 40 S&W, but your current list and budget seems to favor the Sig.

I second the revolver comment. Used S&W Mod 66's are floating around at 300-400 bucks and most of them are a real steal for one of the last great K frames!
 
I've noticed you don't have any rifles. You mentioned you have access to lots of 9 mm. How about you look into getting a Ruger carbine rifle (I forget the name) that shoots 9 mm? Your groupings will be tighter and there will be no recoil to speak of. You may find that you suddenly love rifles and want to branch out that way. Also, I believe the magazines that this carbine rifle uses is also interchangeable with one of the Ruger 9 mm pistols so I could see getting that at some point so on one trip you can share magazines.

Also, after close to 30 years of shooting (started young) I ended up getting a lever action rifle and I fell so much in love with it that if I had to ever reduce to one, that would be it. I never thought that would happen and I only point it out in case you want to branch out or try other things.

Doesn't appear that you have a need for a new gun as much as you have a need for the ability to shoot 9mm. Get a conversion barrel (I'd convert the Sig) and save your money.

However, if you're more of a collector and just want another gun, you can't go wrong with a M&P 9.
 
I shot my wifes SR9 yesterday. I shoot it far better than I shoot my Kimber Eclipse Pro II. I would recommend the SR9 for a good, not too expensive 9mm.
 
Used or CPO Sig 226 if you like the 229 you have.

Also the CZ P-01 is one of the most fun 9mm's I've ever shot. Its not as big as the larger CZ's but I like it way better. Its my favorite CZ they make.
 
It looks like i might end up going with the SigPro SP2022 merely because its such a good price and is the cheapest, quality 9mm i have found. Next on my list will be FN's FNX-9 without a doubt. Anyone who is looking into one should get it. Very comparable to HK's USP Compact in my honest opinion
 
I almost bought a SigPro once. They are one of a few guns that have decreased in price over the past few years. I decided they weren't for me several years ago and glad I didn't pay the asking price back then as its way less now. That tells me they aren't in great demand.

Since you like the Sigs my new answer is to get a CPO p228. Better balance than your p229 (for most people) and a little lighter. Plus they aren't as common which make them cooler. Great 9mm shooter if you ask me.

All of these can be had for less than $450. All will handle any and all the 9mm you can shove down the pipe.

If I could choose only one it would be the BHP....
