Well, having a P89 for quite awhile, I'd have to say it is a lot a fun to shoot at the range, which is what I bought it for. It can be quite accurate with the right ammo. As far a cocking, I think the designer meant for the safety to be off (up) so you can grab the slide with your thumb and forefinger under the safety lever to help rack the slide back. This helps especially when its hot and humid and your hands are wet with sweat. A little different than most, but it makes pretty good sense once you try it a few times. Hogue wraparound grips also help make this a nice shooting pistol. I'd rent both to see what suits me.
