It's that time to be looking for a new belt. My 1/4 inch thick 1.5 inch wide single layer leather Levi's belt ain't cutting it no more. I am looking for a strong long lasting belt for IWB carry and for casual dress.

I am eyeing the High Noon and the Comp-Tac belts. I don't like the extra metal belt slide on the High Noons, I also don't like the extra 20 dollar difference in price. But I do like the lifetime warranty on the High Noon vs. the 1 year warranty on the Comp Tac. I like the price of the Comp Tac better; but who wouldn't?

Are there any other 1.5 inch wide Kydex reinforced dual layered belts for less money out there? I like plain brown leather over the emobossed patterns BTW.

Here is Comp Tac's belt website.

Hello friends and neighbors // I don't like starting you off with "other" but my choice was/is a Glaco (MB1?).

The belt is nylon encased in rubber and looks like leather. It holds form a little too well when squatting but other than that has been great.

i am sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear, as i am gonna recommend somthing that isn't leather. However i use the 5.11 operator belt i have been using it for years, not only the military, daily wear, and ccw as well. it is nylon, double thick with a kydex insert and is 1.5" wide.

I use the 5.11 nylon belt myself with my ABUs, but I am more of a brown leather type guy for off duty. I also hate anything uniform related after duty hours.

511 makes renforced dress belts too with various amounts of stiching. (black or brown) I have been using the stitched casual in brown since May.

The Comptac is a fine leather belt. I wear it often. I just got a wilderness 5 stitch though, and love it.
The Wilderness is pretty cheap too.

Okay, I think I will go with the Comp-Tac. Now should I get the 1.5 inch all the way around or will it be more comfortable to get the 1.5 tapered to 1.25 in the front? I really don't like the tapered look but if it's more comfortable I may give it a try.

I am really looking for feedback on tapered vs non tapered at this point. Thanks though.

I use 1.5" non tapered in leather and renforced leather & don't have any complaints about comfort.

I use the 5.11 leather gun belts with the reinforced stitching and internal rigid support as well. Just as good as the other gun belts but at a WAY lower price. If you play your cards right and buy them from LAPG, you might be able to get it for free as a giveaway with another order. I have 3 of them that I use and only paid for one. The other two were part of giveaway deals. They would have been worth it even if I got charged full price.

No problem Mags. LAPG usually has some GREAT deals. I don't buy anything gun, military, or LE related without checking to see if LAPG has it cheaper first. 8 times out of 10, they do. And with some cool free stuff on top of it.

I used the 5.11 nylon belt but it wore out and the edges frayed after a year or 2. I switched to the wilderness one this year and it appears to be better made and I'm betting it's going to last longer. I got the one with the polymer insert inside of it. It's cheap too.

The belt come in yet?
I am still scratching my head on whether or not I want the 1.5 tapered or non tapered belt. I do have a little bit of a gut and the tapered might be more comfy, but I am not sure.

I have a CompTac, and it is a great looking belt, but it makes a lot of noise when I move. I don't know if anyone else has every experienced this, but it kind of bothers me. I have been wearing it every day for over two months, I would think if it needed to break in it would have done it by now.

I even asked CompTac about it, but they never responded.

I bought two of the 5.11 leather-over-plastic belts. Neither lasted more than three months. The leather wore away where objects were carried on the belt (gun holster, mobile phone, leatherman pouch), and when I took one on a day hike my backpack rubbed the entire back side off revealing the white plastic.
