Lasers are good for when you simply cannot get the sights up to your line of sight. Useful when wearing NVG's, or if you're doing some kind of weird lean around a wall or shooting from a non-shouldered spot. For pretty much any other circumstance, a good old dot will be at least as fast, and not have the potential for getting washed out or lost on low-reflectivity surfaces.

My barn is at 50 yards behind my house and while the floodlights will let me see it I want a lazer to be able to put on somebody if I see them messing around it. I can hit with iron sights or the red dot but this would be more of a deterrent
