I have several lever rifles, but I find the one that is the most fun to shoot is the Marlin 1894. It's light, short and handy. Has a smooth short action, cheap reloading with cast bullets, and it just feels right. Try to find somebody's deer hunting piece, probably not fired a whole lot, and usually available at a pretty reasonable price. I saw several on consignment in a local shop in 44mag and 45 colt, PM me for cntact info if you want.
